System IT provides the primary technology used by all campuses to support their operations. Position Overview
The System IT Department at the University of North Texas System is seeking to hire a Director Network & Telephony Svcs to join our team. This position directs the activities of the network and telephony teams and is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, inventory, and security of all physical and virtual systems. Assigns and supervises the work of others. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Will assist in the development of departmental roadmaps and goals related to networking, security and voice. Will also assist and/or lead in the creation of objectives, network designs, implementation plans as well as provide escalation assistance of the local and wide area network, voice and security systems. The Director, Network & Telephony Services will provide high level technical support, supervision, training and management of departmental staff, all network and voice related projects and provide leadership in areas UNT World for network technology use

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related field, ten years of related work experience in networking, and certification as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP); or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional knowledge of firewalls, routers, switches with primary focus on Juniper, Palo Alto and Cisco product lines
  • In-depth knowledge of networking security principles
  • Telephony experience and understanding of Cloud Telephony Systems, SIP, Analog etc.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership of an IT networking and/or telephony team.
  • Strong project management skills

Job Duties

o
  • Design, manage and assist with the high-level install and ongoing support of network communications equipment, voice infrastructure related to QoS and delivery of voice over IP, routing and switching and all key areas of networking and voice.


o
  • Plan and evaluate existing Network infrastructure and make recommendations for future growth to maintain and/or expand service levels.


o
  • Provide highly skilled technical guidance/input to the Network team as well as security planning, engineering and architecture.


o
  • Develop technical standards and identify and evaluate new products and solutions and provide guidance for resolution of network problems.


o
  • Provide management, development and career guidance to the Network and Voice teams.


o
  • Interface with vendors, as needed, to identify hardware and software solutions related to network and telephony.


o
  • Manage the successful completion of all network and voice related projects


o
  • Manage day to day operations of the Network environment and team. This will include the design, configuration, implementation and support of all firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, controllers, voice services and edge security.


o
  • Oversee management of IP subnets

o
  • Ensure successful backup of network configs across all devices


o
  • Manage and delegate the network device and voice installations, maintenance and upgrades


o
  • Provide escalation support to Information Technology (IT) staff, including problem analysis and troubleshooting and onsite support for all


o
  • Manage and maintain network equipment including replacement of retired equipment


o
  • Develop and oversee the successful creation of documentation, Visio diagrams and design documents for entire networking and voice landscape


o
  • Support and manage wireless access points and controllers


o
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, and contribute to product evaluations/reviews


o
  • Assist with system upgrades and moves with regard to networking and security


o
  • Assist other UNT System IT resources with day-to-day operational support activities as required


o
  • Maintain heightened security awareness and take action for any potential issues as required for all LAN/WAN, data and voice Networks


o
  • Maintain a Network monitoring and alerting system for all Network devices
