The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is the professional organization for Chief Information Officers and other senior healthcare IT leaders. CHIME enables its members and business partners to collaborate, exchange ideas, develop professionally and advocate the effective use of information management to improve the health and care throughout the communities they serve.

Job purpose
The Director, Innovation is an integral CHIME Innovation team member ideating, developing, and implementing new innovation education and innovation facilitation events for healthcare executives.
The Director, Innovation reports to the Vice President, Education & Innovation and acts as a working project and innovation manager with significant responsibility in entrepreneurial training, coaching and development. This role manages an assigned portfolio of various special projects which have a direct impact on key organizational initiatives and/or operational goals from design through implementation.
The Director, Innovation will serve as the central point of coordination for cross-functional Teams tasked with developing and executing new executive education programs, innovation facilitation initiatives and in-person as well as virtual events designed to be a leading voice in the healthcare innovation industry.
Duties and responsibilities
- Be an integral part of growing CHIME Innovation.
- Develop ideas for new products, programs, and events by being an out of the box thinker willing to push new ideas and help the organization continue to innovate and move forward.
- Lead the organization and overall project management of CHIME Innovation activities.
- Manage CHIME Innovation member committees and work groups.
- Facilitate executive education workshops focused on innovation topics.
- Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with the Vice President, Education and Innovation as well as other team members for CHIME Innovation events, programs, workshops, and innovation summits.
- Delegate tasks based on individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels.
- Design and manage deliverable content for executive leadership.
- Utilize project management skillset to assist in setting meeting agendas and prepare materials for working sessions, track progress against agreed-upon timelines, deliverables, and expectations.
- Manage sponsors, stakeholder and project team member expectations with regard to project scope and feasibility.
- Identify areas where new products/services will meet the needs of emerging customer bases or the changing needs of existing CHIME members and Foundation partners.
- Gather feedback from leadership, business development, brokers, consultants, providers, and industry sources, and turn this feedback into data we can use to evaluate opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Healthcare industry experience is required.
- Knowledge of innovation frameworks/disciplines is desired.
- Corporate innovation experience is desired.
- PMP Certification is desired.
- In-depth, demonstrated experience of thriving in a dynamic, fast changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment is required.
- Experience working in a start-up is desired.
- New product development and execution experience is desired.
- Previous exposure to design thinking is desired.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written & verbal) in an organized and knowledgeable manner.
- Self-Motivated: hands-on, self-starter, and highly inquisitive style.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for building strong professional relationships both internally and externally by interacting and networking effectively with people from different backgrounds.
- Demonstrates initiative, continually strives to enhance the credibility of CHIME.
Working Conditions
Ability to travel 20-30 percent and work in a remote office environment with understood accessibility to a major airport for required travel.
