Admissions Director Job Summary
The Admission Director is the first point of contact between a resident and the Nursing Facility. In this career, pre-admission screening to provide a complete medical assessment is one of your primary duties. You will collect a medical history of the patient and ensure that they have completed all necessary forms and insurance obligations.
Your primary responsibilities include administrative tasks, such as collecting medical information and ensuring that all insurance paperwork is in order. You will also educate and examine residents for potential issues before placement.
Admissions Nurse Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtain medical history from patients upon admission.
- Collect insurance information and have patients fill out the proper paperwork.
- Coordinate with physicians to provide comprehensive patient care.
Admissions Nurse Requirements and Qualifications
- Associates degree in nursing; bachelor's preferred.
- Familiarity with skilled nursing and long term care.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations.
- Insurance and medicare experience is a must.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Interview applicants for admission and acquire necessary information and documentation; complete required forms.
- Handle financial arrangements related to admission.
- Conduct tours of the facility and grounds for potential residents, families, community, and representative from placement agencies and organizations.
- Act as liaison with discharge planners.
- Attend and participate in in-service educational programs particularly those that relate to the psychosocial needs of the elderly, community resources, and admission requirements (Title XVII and Title XIX), etc.
- Participate in quality assurance programs.
- Maintain professional confidentiality.
- Follow-up on inquiries and maintain current and active waiting lists.
- Develop long-range and short-range marketing plans, establishing goals and objectives.
- Prepare in conjunctions with Residents' Account Manager, daily and weekly reports, and monthly and annual summaries of admissions, discharges, sources, classifications, lengths of stay, etc.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills,
- Effective time management.
- Travel and conduct one-on-one or other external community relations activities.
- Maintain close personal contact with all referral sources.
- Coordinate and participate in the facility events as appropriate (i.e., health fairs, family dinner, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
