SUMMARY: The role is responsible for driving strategy and creating, managing, producing, and distributing content across our existing portfolio. The ideal candidate has experience leading dynamic teams of content producers in fast-paced environments. A proven manager and self-driven professional with a passion for the New England Patriots and the NFL, this person will contribute new and big ideas and lead the team to greater achievement. Creativity and a thorough understanding of production of content for all mediums, particularly digital and social media, is essential. The candidate can interpret data and analytics and present findings at a high level. It will be essential to work interdepartmentally with the goal of streamlining process efficiencies and maximizing monetization, promotion, fan engagement and overall reputation of the organization in the community and worldwide.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive content strategy across all platforms and mediums; Gather and analyze performance results, summarize key findings, and set goals for growth
  • Direct content plans that drive fan engagement and growth, create revenue, and promote internal initiatives, while entertaining fans and remaining within the established budget
  • Execute plans through the successful support, recruitment, supervision, training, scheduling, and mentoring of team members
  • Develop and execute strategy for year-round storytelling that aligns with NFL calendar and team milestones
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing department on content marketing decisions, including content creation and promotional planning to maximize performance on digital and social media
  • Plan and execute social and digital-first video content and collaborate with all other content producers on holistic content creation
  • Research and introduce potential content partnerships across all content formats and ensure success
  • Establish and achieve quantifiable growth and engagement goals for the team alongside the VP of Content and other Directors
  • Oversee content schedule and strategize on promotional support for individual pieces of content and content series
  • Adhere to established brand and identity guidelines across all content platforms
  • Liaison with internal departmental stakeholders, particularly Marketing, Sales, Community Relations, Fan Engagement, and Executive Suite, to understand goals and leverage content and social/digital platforms to achieve organizational objectives
  • Manage outside vendors, freelancers, graphics agencies, collaborators, and illustrators and provide content consultation for international agencies, particularly social media
  • Demonstrate expertise of content trends by surfacing and sharing best practices, emerging platforms, and industry news
  • Understand, implement, and adhere to various team and league rules where applicable
  • Travel as necessary, with a particular emphasis during the NFL season
  • Special projects and assignments as business dictates
  • Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum eight to ten years of experience as lead content or social media manager at an agency, professional or college sports team or league
  • Minimum of five years of experience leading a team, including managing both large and small staffs
  • A strong track record of successful content campaigns that have led to increased sales and/or growth
  • Superior communication and organizational skills
  • Capable of interpreting content data and analytics to drive decision-making
  • Proven understanding of the different content needs and processes for all mediums
  • Knowledge of sports, pop culture, and news, including but not limited to current events
  • Familiarity working with content monitoring and measurement tools such as Parse.ly, Adobe, Google Analytics 360, CrowdTangle, Spredfast, Respondology and native platform tools
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders
  • Capacity to work and react quickly when opportunities arise
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive under pressure, which will involve working evenings and weekends
  • Deep understanding of sports news and story lines, with sound journalistic ethics and judgment
  • Ability to collaborate with leagues, teams, and departments to execute on strategies
  • Strong attention to detail
