We are looking for a Director of Hospice Inpatient Care Operations to join our team.


Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), the Director of Hospice Inpatient Care Operations, provides oversight of many clinical operational functions. Specifically, this position is responsible for oversight of Inpatient operations and the Pediatric department, along with policies and procedures to assure customer service excellence. This position provides leadership, support, and direction to the Hospice Inpatient Team to ensure timely response for patient care, comprehensive assessments, and effective communication to internal and external customers.


This position will work closely with Chief Executive Officer, Chief Clinical Officer or designee, Director of Patient Access, and Director of Hospice Home Care Operations. This position also works closely with the Department of Quality, Education and Compliance to formulate Quality and Performance Improvement initiatives.


The Director of Hospice Inpatient Care Operations will inform the Chief Clinical Officer of all program issues and accomplishments and will provide summary reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer. The Director of Inpatient Care Operations will partner with the clinical leadership and management teams and collaboration plan, organize, provide oversight, of staffing of the areas s/he supervises.


S/he is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the program aspects of the annual operating Inpatient Care Operations budgets in conjunction with the Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Financial Officer. S/he is responsible for ensuring that all services meet compliance with all federal, state, Joint Commission and funding, regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements.

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited program preferred. Masters degree preferred.

  • Three to five years of nursing experience in a community health service setting in the past six years with progressively responsible experience in supervisory or administrative duties.

  • Substantive knowledge of current trends in hospice or home health care, federal and state regulations, state licensing requirements, and other standards related to hospice or home health care.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply organizational/management concepts effectively and to establish reasonable goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, evaluate, and coordinate work of others. Demonstrated ability to maintain accountability and to work independently.

  • Ability to function autonomously with flexibility, confidence and minimal supervision and have the ability to function in an interdisciplinary team setting.

  • Possesses good time management skills and demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to deal with difficult and complex situations.

  • The qualified employee should be able to demonstrate experience and proficiency in principles of adult learning and providing educational tools and resources to clinical team.

  • Possess in depth experience and knowledge of required Hospice documentation.

  • Possess the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with both Administrative and clinical staff.

  • Possess experience and expertise in the Hospice related systems application.

  • Proficiency in word processing and software programs.

  • Possess superior ability to build relationships both internal and external to the organization with the ability to develop an organization-wide strategy for program excellence. Partners with the CEO and CCO engaging community member and maintaining positive relationships and communication pathways with the Board of Directors
