POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for directing Patient Financial Services to include, but not limited to, Registration/Front Office Management, HIM, Coding, Billing, Collections, Cash Posting, Denial Management, Budget Preparation. Coordinate the daily activities related to the planning, implementing and maintaining all functions pertinent to Patient Financial Services areas. Responsible for the continued improvement in staff through education, training and maintaining the core values of BMH.

  • Provides guidance and supervision for the Facility/Professional Billing Office, Credit & Collections, Patient Access and Health Information Management departments through the establishment of goals and performance standards, monitoring of results, and staff management in order to achieve hospital goals and metrics
  • In collaboration with the CFO, establishes annual goals and objectives for the department; establishes priorities, identifies resource limitations as well as participating in various projects monitoring progress and evaluating results. Prepares and monitors annual budget for respective departments.
  • Forecasts cash collections, prepares and analyzing statistical reports to identify deficiencies providing and implementing recommendations for improvement.
  • Responsible for the overall staff management of the department, ensuring that hospital and personnel policies are followed consistently through staff meetings, annual staff reviews, training and disciplinary action when needed. In addition, will monitor FTE budget, participates in interviews and approves all new hires for the department.
  • Knowledge of third-party requirements, Medicare/Medicaid regulations through participation of continuing education as well as attendance through all third-party/CMS trainings.
  • Participates in all requested meetings, facility committees, required audits providing requested feedback, information and recommendations.
  • Ensures all patient needs are addressed in a timely and professional in the manner set forth within the BMH Core Values.
DEPARTMENT SCOPE OF SERVICE
The Business Office is comprised of the Patient Financial Services, which handles insurance verification, coordination of benefits, credit and collection and cashiering, as well as in- and outpatient registration between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The switchboard handles calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week and all in- and outpatient registrations evenings after 5:00 p.m., weekends and holidays.
  • QUALIFICATION
      EDUCATION:
      • Bachelor’s degree in related field. Leadership experience in Patient Financial Services may be substituted for educational requirement.
      EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS:
        • Prior experience managing staff, establishing goals and process improvement.

        • Sound understanding of systems, procedures and general Revenue Cycle function.

        • Ability to prepare, interpret and communicate statistical reports to colleague and management providing guidance and input for improvement.
        • Strong Commitment to maintaining BMH Core Values
