JOB SUMMARYThe Director of Pharmacy directs, establishes, and strategizes the overall business activity, policies, procedures, and goals for True Health's pharmacy services while continuously working to advance the reach of the services throughout the True Health patient base. They must assure achieving and maintaining regulatory compliance under the Florida Board of Pharmacy, DEA, HRSA, OPAIS, AAAHC and any other applicable regulatory organizations.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
1. Recruits and manages pharmacists employed by True Health (including full-time, part time, and via contractual arrangements)
2. Manages the coordination and staffing levels of pharmacy technicians (including full-time, part time, and contractual arrangements)
3. Maintains contact with other departmental leaders, medical staff, and clinical staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective and safe drug therapy
4. Responsible for representing the pharmacy department in assigned organizational tasks and meetings and collaborating with other departments
5. Responsible for developing/producing agendas, reports, and presentations as well as presenting information to staff members and/or other organizations
6. Must have excellent information technology skills and the ability to accurately collect, organize, analyze, and synthesize data from various sources as well as produce proper reporting methods for deliverables
7. Responsible for the administrative oversight of all pharmacies and software to assure compliance with regulatory, accreditation and funding agencies and True Health policies and procedures.
8. Completes all directives and ensures compliance with all laws relevant to pharmacy practice (DEA, Board of Pharmacy); adapts and implements policies and procedures to comply with changes in laws, accreditation standards (HRSA, 340B, AAAHC), and compliance with current legal requirements
9. Remains current with new and changing drug therapies and uses
10. Responsible for the oversight of third-party credentialing agreements which includes the review, proper execution, and maintenance of requirements under all agreements
11. Review and maintain proper billing practices for pharmacy claims under third-party plans and for sliding-scale fee plans
12. Responsible for the oversight of all departmental licensing requirements
13. Responsible for the oversight of wholesaler accounts and pharmacy department inventories
14. Responsible for the oversight of training initiatives and compliance for required trainings
15. Responsible for periodic compliance inspections of each prescription department
16. Manages compliance audits, contractual agreements, and periodic analyses of the performance of 340B contractual arrangements
17. Manages the oversight and execution of CQI requirements (continuous quality improvement program) as well as the proper investigation and reporting of QREs (quality related events)
18. Manages the preparation and execution of emergency and holiday departmental closures appropriately
19. Manages the plan for assurance of the proper storage for each department’s perishable pharmaceuticals when necessary
20. Acts as a pharmacist on duty to prevent a closed department in times that emergency coverage is required or during other periods of need
21. Acts as a pharmacy manager during periods of vacancy in that role when needed over a prescription department
22. Must have excellent organizational skills
23. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of personality types in an efficient and friendly manner
24. Must have ability to problem solve and work with minimal guidance
25. Must be able to respond efficiently and quickly to urgent situations
26. Must possess entrepreneurial and business development aptitude
27. Stays current with pharmacy industry changes and trends to identify threats and opportunities for business development
28. Must be able to analyze and understand departmental finances, financial impacts, and organizational budgets
29. Attendance at all required meetings
30. Able to work hours as assigned including after business hours and on weekends when required
31. Able to maintain strict confidentiality on HR and corporate issues when appropriate.
32. All other responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree required
2. Minimum of 6 years of supervisory experience and practice in outpatient and/or community pharmacy
3. Minimum of three years of 340B, FQHC, HRSA and AAAHC experience required
4. Current Florida License active and in good standing with a current Immunization Certification
5. CPR Certification required
