Position: Director of Pursuit Learning Academy.
Reports To: Kevin Kern, COO.
Job Summary:
The Director of the Pursuit Learning Academy (PLA) is responsible for the leadership, supervision, and appraisal of all PLA programming, to include both onsite and offsite services. The Director ensures teaching principles; adult learning strategies, community integration, and person-centered programming are implemented for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism or similar conditions. The Pursuit Learning Academy is a licensed Individualized Socialization and Skills program through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides ongoing collaboration and instructional support to all PLA Instructors.
  • Oversees the PLA instructional process and develops procedures for data driven decision making.
  • Approves schedules, activities, and community integration in the offsite programming for PLA participants.
  • Monitors the budget and approves expenses for program.
  • Maintains collection of data for all criterion referenced skills assessments.
  • Works collaboratively with other Directors and Associate Directors in other Center programs to ensure that all clients are receiving the support needed.
  • Ensures safety protocols are followed.
  • Ensures that all Service Delivery Logs are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Acts as the liaison between the families and the PLA.
  • Builds relationships with local nonprofits, and other collaborations to develop and improve the offsite ISS program.
  • Ensures all necessary documentation is accurate and completed within established timelines in accordance with agency and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
  • Participates in various committees within the organization.
Professional Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Special Education, Counseling or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor Degree is in Special Education, Human Services arena is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory- management experience is required.
  • Five years of experience working with individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities, Autism or similar conditions are required.
Skills Needed:
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Understands how to collect and analyze data for decision making.
  • Understands basic principles of budget formation and how to interpret and monitor.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills including the demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with internal and external community stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of how to utilize Windows based software packages.
  • Exceptional team working skills with the ability and commitment to working collaboratively with leadership and other department/ program directors.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Bi-lingual and/ or ASL preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of HCS Principles strongly preferred.
Duties will occasionally require work outside normal business hours. Dress code expectation is business professional.

This is an in-office position.
