GO Virginia Region 6, has a rich history in hosting collaborative work-based learning efforts. Our locality boasts positive relationships and partnerships between industry, post-secondary education, and K-12 schools.
GO Virginia Region 6—includes the Fredericksburg area (Fredericksburg City, Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Caroline Counties), the Northern Neck, and the Middle Peninsula. The Rappahannock Work and Learn Collaborative will focus on strengthening and growing relationships between employers in the region and creating access to students from across the region. This regional role will work to connect employers to students and assure readiness of employers, students, and institutions to significantly increase the number of high-quality paid internships and other work-based learning opportunities within GO Virginia Region 6.
The University of Mary Washington is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to serve as the director of the Rappahannock Work and Learn Collaborative. The selected candidate will identify, convene and support the collaborative’s steering and employer advisory committees which will consist of leaders from education and industry from across GO Virginia Region 6. This position will be responsible for creating an inventory of work and learn opportunities existing in the region, developing an implementation plan, and engaging to create an inventory of existing and prospective collaborative work-based learning programs and initiatives, develop a plan for regional replication of key initiatives, and promote participation by employers, students, community partners and educational partners through meetings, networking, resource sharing, and a signature regional internship expo hosted in partnership with the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The RWLC director will:
- Be responsible for outreach to and engagement of employers in region to invite them into partnership in the region.
- Represent UMW on the FXBG Chamber Workforce NOW Board.
- Work with Collaborative Partners to identify the employment needs and goals of individuals served by Collaborative Partners and engage with employers in the region to develop job opportunities for individuals supported by Collaborative Partners.
- Work with related public, private and community agencies and their staff; and business and corporate representatives to insure a coordinated approach to business engagement in the designated geographic area.
- Manage the ongoing fiscal documentation for grant expenditures including knowledge and understanding of university and state procurement policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Center for Career and Professional Development, Continuing & Professional Studies, the Center for Community and with other key campus partners.
- Conduct the analysis and synthesis of collected data for timely and regular dissemination to project partners and stakeholders.
- Assist FXBG Chamber with planning and facilitation of the Discover Your Future internship fair and networking event.
- Plan, design and execute a communications plan in collaboration with the FXBG Chamber to ensure engagement of current and future project partners across Higher Ed Institutions, K12, and employer/community organizations.
- Convene and execute all logistics for project-related meetings with regards to the higher education community. Direct the writing, creation, and design of reports, marketing materials, and other print and online resources in support of the project.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including faculty, business leaders, and students
- Experience working with data
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills
- Ability to self-manage, take initiative, and work with minimal supervision
- Experience with fiscal/budget management
- Demonstrated experience building, working in, and motivating diverse working groups and teams.
- Knowledge of higher education system
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working in a higher education and/or economic development-related setting
- Ability to set and meet goals both individually and as a part of a team
- Ability to problem solve and prioritize in a fast paced, results oriented environment that welcomes innovative/creative thinking.
- Project management
- Experience in Higher Education, K-12 CTE, or other workforce development role
