Summary: Reporting to the President, the Director of Technologyis a highly motivated individual who provides vision and leadership in all areas of technology throughout the school. The Director oversees technology planning, implementation, integration, and maintenance at the school.

The ideal candidate will be a “people person” who takes an active interest in the culture and community of Flintridge Sacred Heart and matches the department’s projects to the rhythms of the school year. Experience working in the education field is important for understanding how technology supports educational outcomes, where technology funding sources can be accessed, and that a culture of collaboration, positivity, and creativity can support success. This position supervises the Network Administrator/IT Support Specialist, Help Desk Support Technician, and a third-party IT Contractor.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversees all school-wide technology, including the 1:1 laptop program
  • Develops and implements a technology strategic plan in alignment with the school’s mission statement, academic goals, and strategic plan.
  • Leads the Helpdesk support team to ensure prompt and through resolution of issues with a high level of community satisfaction.
  • Manages the annual technology budget, assets, and inventory.
  • Collaborates with department heads and other designated stakeholders to endure that technology initiatives meet the needs of departments and the academic program.
  • Oversees the security posture of the school and develops and maintains both a disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
  • Updates and enforces technology policies and procedures for students, faculty, and staff that relate to legal and ethical uses of technology within the school community.
  • Stays up-to-date regarding trends, research, applications, and effective practices on issues related to educational technology, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
  • Identifies training needs and facilitates training workshops or development programs for faculty and staff to communicate and implement new technology solutions. Assists with training during New Faculty Orientation and New Student Orientation.
  • Serves as chairperson of the Technology Committee and member of Academy Administration, high school administrative team, and other committees as needed
  • Supervises all tech department staff including hiring, monitoring, and professional development.
  • Directs third-party IT contractor as needed
  • Oversees all applications and information systems used by faculty, staff, and students.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the President

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science or a related field; at least five years of related experience and/or formal training including PC and Mac computer support, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Highly developed leadership skills/experience sufficient to assume the responsibilities of this management position, including the ability to project plan, multi-task, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and develop, monitor and operate within budgets
  • Strong customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Must be skilled at delegation, follow-up, negotiating and team building
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and productively
  • High level of integrity, responsibility, professionalism, patience and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with a wide variety of educational technologies including implementation and training
  • Experience managing a Windows Server domain at the highest level, wired and wireless networking and Cisco network infrastructure
  • Experience with Mosyle or similar MDM system a plus
  • Experience with Google Workspace for Education and Blackbaud on Campus preferred
  • Ability to effectively manage a small team of reports

  • Initiative: Must possess the ability to proactively initiate, participate and follow through in strategic planning matters and on work assigned. Positive attitude and teamwork perspective are essential.
  • Learning Posture: Must maintain a learning posture, embrace change and individual and institutional growth. Expected to remain current with industry standards relating to facilities management, participate in professional development training and the annual employee retreat.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, run, observe and monitor
  • Must be able to push, pull reach, bend and/or lift up to 20 pounds
  • Simultaneous/repetitive use of both hands is required for writing and data entry.
  • Excellent sensory skills are important (sight, hearing and speech).
  • Must have mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations
  • Ability to work in a computer room environment

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
