BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- The Director of the Counseling Center must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures.
- Must be a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S).
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
- The Director of the Counseling Center organizes, participates in, and oversees the delivery of counseling services to DBU students, faculty, and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Director of the Counseling Center must be professionally trained in and committed to the concept and practice of Christian counseling. A master's degree in psychology or counseling is required, but a doctoral degree is preferred. The director must be licensed as a professional counselor (LPC) or as a psychologist.
- The Director of the Counseling Center must have previous experience in the field of Christian counseling.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the selection, orientation, scheduling, and supervision of counseling practicum students and associates.
- Meet weekly with student counselors for supervision purposes.
- Promote services offered through the DBU Counseling Center.
- Respond to inquiries about the services of the DBU Counseling Center and make referrals as appropriate.
- Develop and implement mental health initiatives and programs for the greater campus community.
- Partner with the Dean of Students and Spiritual Life in developing emergency counseling protocols.
- Develop relationships with outside counseling professionals for referral and additional campus support when needed.
- Supervise scheduling to ensure coverage of counseling services.
- Maintain the therapeutic records of the Student Counseling Center according to professional and ethical standards of proficiency and confidentiality.
- Maintain operational records including number of clients seen and sessions provided each semester.
- Provide regular reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs regarding service operation and needs.
- Administer regular assessments to ensure effective and efficient counseling center operation.
- Submit an annual budget to the Chief Financial Officer of the university and manage the financial aspects of the DBU Counseling Center.
- Participate in Student Affairs staff meetings as directed by the Vice President for Student Affairs.
- Be available to meet with DBU students for individual counseling as needed for initial assessments.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities as required for licensure.
- Fulfill faculty responsibilities as determined by full-time faculty contract, including teaching load, Faculty Council attendance, committee assignments, and faculty development.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs or President.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Regular office hours between 8:00a.m.– 5:00p.m., Monday – Friday, but occasionally flexible hours will be required.
