We are currently seeking a DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION based REMOTE. This role will lead all aspects of the Transportation function, including strategy, optimizing logistics footprint, order management, customer delivery and operations. Works pro-actively within the matrix environment to ensure the transportation priorities and strategies are incorporated into the overall NBG-Home operations function. The successful candidate will be an established leader with a proven track record of delivering results across a global transportation network. Strategic capabilities are a must, as well as being hands-on and comfortable with tactical execution.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the strategic direction and analyze financial reports, customer profitability, and other company data, identifying trends and opportunities.
  • Direct all transportation planning and execution, including negotiation of ocean freight, rail, and truck contracts.
  • Develop effective working relationships with carriers to secure the most cost-efficient transportation rates and ensures execution of all required business outcomes.
  • Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day transportation operations of the company and directing major projects.
  • Drive efficiencies and cost reduction throughout the delivery function and associated operating functions while maintaining a high level of performance.
  • Develop and improve processes, reporting, and metrics to effectively measure status, performance, and identify any issues.
  • Supervise a team of employees, delegating tasks accordingly, monitoring performance, and conducting regular follow-ups with business objectives.
  • Optimize the transportation network from the inside, by researching and testing software tools, management methodologies, and workflow processes.
  • Oversee the budgeting process for the department, from proposal to expense control, and monitor financial health of the function.
  • Establish and maintain compliance of all programs with state and federal regulations, including those imposed by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Oversees customer charge backs, fines and disputes related to transportation.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years relevant logistics/transportation experience.
  • 5+ years leading a team.
  • Must have extensive experience leading ocean freight negotiations.
  • Must have extensive experience coordinating logistics across geographical regions outside the US – Asia and Canada strongly preferred.
  • Must have experience with all types of freight, including ocean, air, domestic parcel, rail, and truck.
  • Understanding of international shipping processes and international compliance requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility: This role will lead a team - team size will vary

Travel Requirements: This position requires some domestic travel, approximately 10-20%
