Job description
The Director, Renewable Fuels Solutions is responsible for developing and executing a renewable energy go-to-market sales strategy, which aligns with our customer’s sustainability and carbon reduction goals. The role provides thought leadership on sustainability initiatives, solutions and the value Mansfield Energy delivers to our customers. This position develops and maintains relationships with the broader renewables energy industry including our customer’s sustainability officers to enable us to leverage growth potential through partnerships and other cooperative alliances. Responsible for the renewable fuel’s program, including planning and budgeting, product marketing, joint sales initiatives with supply channel partners, business development support for the company’s direct and indirect sales channels, and providing tools/reporting for carbon and GHG reduction.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning
  • Develop and execute Mansfield’s renewable energy sales and marketing strategy in partnership with sales, channel partners, legal, supply, operations, logistics, etc.
  • Implement and execute sustainability strategies that position Mansfield Energy as the industry leader in decarbonization, circular economy and corporate social responsibility
  • Coordinate with supply and sales teams to ensure renewable fuel offerings are current and competitive in the market
  • Establish goals, financial plans, and metrics that are specific and measurable
  • Establish and develop relationships with decision makers (i.e. sustainability directors, chief sustainability officers, procurement directors, CFOs, etc.).
  • Maintain understanding of leading trends and changes in climate science, GHG accounting, renewable energy, green buildings, and other focus areas as program evolves, including regulatory issues
  • Research and track renewable fuel policy developments at the state and federal level
  • Provide guidance to ensure that environmental sustainability is integrated into strategic business initiatives and compliance requirements.
  • Provide expertise on EPA guidance and methods to calculate and report scope 1 and 2 emissions and disclosure of GHG emissions.
  • Establish, govern, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication across the company for renewable energy program, initiatives, regulations, and solutions

Sales, Marketing and Business Development
  • Provide consultative solutions by partnering with our customers to design carbon reduction strategy recommendations and expertise on renewable fuels, GHG and carbon reduction strategies, storage, logistics, and reporting
  • Customer engagement at senior levels; building long-term strategic and executive relationships
  • Develops and maintains relationships with the broader renewable energy industry that enable us to leverage growth potential through partnerships and other cooperative alliances
  • Develop a Sustainability marketing strategy that establishes value propositions for Renewable Fuels program
  • Develop a market segmentation by researching and evaluating sustainability plans, carbon reduction goals, and decarbonization strategies while connecting how renewable diesel and biofuels can help the customer achieve success sooner and less expensive compared to alternative energy sources
  • Understand the full scope of sustainability and Mansfield Energy products and services to effectively leverage the Mansfield customer base and cross-segment opportunities
  • Lead the consultative selling process for high profile and high value prospects and clients
  • Grow customer and prospect awareness of products and services, grow perception of Mansfield as thought leaders in sustainability solutions through delivery of customer-facing webinars, marketing, training, participation and speaking at conferences and industry events.
  • Create and execute actionable and focused tactical sales & marketing plans
  • Develop specific sales & marketing communications, training materials, collateral, and presentations to penetrate targeted customer segments through the most effective paths to market
  • Establish and execute business development plans to sell and distribute renewable fuels to existing customers, distributors, and carriers
  • Continuously identify new sales opportunities and focus on providing consultative support by building customer-specific value propositions to provide solutions
  • Develop and manage a sales, marketing, and distribution plan to market and sell the renewable fuels products to new and existing customers
  • Support the company’s commercial sales teams when they draft specific customer proposals
  • Maintain knowledge of renewable energy technology advancement, growth of new and emerging technologies (e.g., energy storage, hydrogen) to identify new product and service opportunities.
Operations
  • Responsible for developing strategic partnerships with channel partners, renewable diesel suppliers, and renewable diesel refiners creating opportunities within the entire value chain.
  • Champion ESG initiatives, education, training, communication, and strategies across the company.
  • Manage and supervise large or complex mandates through project cycle
  • Drive and collaborate with cross-functional teams on scope, schedule, and engagement of projects for optimal success
  • Develop a streamlined and standardized protocol for responding to and remediating customer problems and quality concerns
  • Develop and implement Mansfield Energy Corp’s decarbonization roadmap through reduction in energy consumption, increase in recycling activities and usage of renewable fuel solutions
  • Coordinate complex implementations and manage departmental interdependencies
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and development of the renewables fuel program by coordinating with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders
  • Create high impact reporting and customer progress reports to facilitate effective decision making and to effectively assess and improve performance
  • Intermittent presentation of P&L impact as well as progress against key business development and strategic objectives to Executive Team required

Training
  • Develop thought leadership to enhance our market presence for renewable fuels by transferring knowledge and experience to our teams
  • Plan and execute training across sales channels: Commercial &Industrial, Government, Canada, Wholesale, and OnDemand to build pipeline and grow sales
  • Prepare perspectives, white papers, and publications on renewable fuels topics
  • Work with suppliers to ensure product line knowledge and offerings remain current on industry trends
  • Systematize the dissemination of product/industry information into the organization
  • Educate sales teams on tactics and tools for determining customer needs and value propositions, and demonstrating the company’s ability to add value
  • Develop and update (as required) training presentations which detail both the operational and marketing facets of the business
  • Prior to sales campaigns, create, schedule, and oversee training sessions to educate internal users on processes to ensure an efficient methodology is followed
  • Support sales by training internal sales, sales support resources and external customers on the company’s specialty product lines and programs
  • Participate in continuous process improvement projects to continue to grow the program, maximize margins and make the business scalable


Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sustainability, Marketing, Environmental Science, or other relevant field of study required
  • Master’s degree, preferred
Knowledge & Experience
  • Ten (10+) years of renewable energy experience across fuels, solar, wind and other technologies. Including project development experience, project finance, as well as knowledge and ability to maximize the value of regulatory and incentive structures.
  • Excellent understanding of renewable energy incentive and regulatory structures. Ability to analyze and take advantage of new and existing structures to drive customer acquisition and revenue growth.
  • Expertise in the application of US & Canadian environmental regulations and broad understanding of international regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise and experience on the policies, methods and/or approaches for measuring and mitigating GHG emissions.
  • Knowledge of relevant energy and carbon management legislation, regulations and standards preferred
  • Broad knowledge of refining process and renewable feedstock processing a plus
  • Strong technical understanding of energy systems and renewable energy technologies, and ability to assess new renewable energy technologies and complementary technologies to identify new opportunities.
  • Understands the carbon emissions value chain from carbon emissions measurement to management and reporting
  • Minimum five (5) years of business development experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in the petroleum or energy-related industry
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with appropriate software tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver meaningful business results with minimal supervision
  • Experience related to climate science, carbon accounting, renewable energy, energy markets, green building, finance, sustainability-related marketing, and other environmental focus areas, including regulatory issues
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with good aptitude for technology
  • Subject matter expertise preferred: Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), and Oregon Clean Fuels Program (CFP), Renewable Natural Gas/Electric Vehicles, Renewable Diesel, and Cellulosic Ethanol.
