Summary of the main function/purpose of the position:
Responsible to the Donation Center and Thrift Manager. Donation Dock Associate will be responsible for greeting donors and accepting their donations. The position will be required to share the mission of the organization and share how the donations will be serving survivors of domestic violence. The position will be responsible for accepting, sorting, pricing, and organizing merchandise.
II. Principal duties/responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Greet customers/donors in a friendly manner at all times.
  • Perform Warehouse and Thrift store opening and closing procedures.
  • Accept and sort donated merchandise.
  • Price merchandise.
  • Respond effectively to changing demands.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Problem solver.
  • Carry merchandise into the stores and stocking shelves.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and visually attractive store and processing areas.
  • Work harmoniously with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Check and respond to phone or email messages daily.
  • Requires working on Tuesday - Saturdays from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours and days may be adjusted based on store and donor's needs.
  • Ability/willingness to perform other positions within the donation center, boutique and thrift operation.
  • Manage orientation process for new volunteers and set them up in volunteer software.
  • Manages and leads volunteers through daily tasks.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
IV. Supervision Responsibility:
Supervises volunteers.
VI. Educational and/or equivalence in experience requirements:
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Previous work related skill, knowledge, and/or experience in sales/inventory/relationship management.
V. Certification or licensing requirements:
  • Valid Florida driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report is required.
  • Requires 24-hour FCADV Core Competency training and additional 6-hours (30-hours total) to qualify for privilege status.
  • Requires on-going 16-hours of Domestic Violence related training after the first year, including ongoing training specific to customer service and six-sigma protocols.
VIII. Physical Demands:
  • Standing for an extended amount of time; including, but not limited to 6-8 hour time periods.
  • Requires up to 100 lbs. to be lifted.
  • Requires ability to push 100lbs. up a 45 degree angle.
  • Walking, standing, using hands, stooping/kneeling, reaching, and push/pulling are required in the course of job duties each day.
  • Noise level is high.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.

IX. Work Environment:
The work environment of this position is that of a warehouse with a normally high noise level. The warehouse and a portion of the store are not air-conditioned, so employee must be able to perform the essential functions of this job in both air-conditioned and un-air-conditioned spaces.

X. Additional Remarks:
  • Must have ability to lead with confidence and minimal supervision.
  • Requires good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must have an understanding of domestic violence issues.
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential material, flexibility and tolerance for others is required.
  • High ethical and professional standards, sound judgement and ability to function independently are required.
  • Must be able to work harmoniously with donors, shoppers, participants, volunteers, and staff.
  • Occasionally requires an immediate response to an email, text or phone message; will require day and weekend hours.
  • Employee must have ability and desire to function as part of a team, yet work with a high degree of autonomy.
