Job Duties: The Upstream Operator will ensure that required materials for each line are drawn from their appropriate locations and set up, monitored and made available throughout the production period or shift.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Know and understand the material requirements (i.e. colorant, cable, tape, etc.) for each product being produced during the assigned shift.
  • Review the manufacturing order at the beginning of each shift to determine what materials are required.
  • Notify Extrusion Technician or Supervisor of any non-standard situations.
  • Material Handling:
  • If material is not located in the staging area behind the lines and the upstream operator is not familiar with where the item is otherwise kept, request assistance from the extrusion technician or supervisor.
  • Place required materials in the staging area or nearby to be available as needed.
  • Set-up materials according to a supervisor’s instruction.
  • Resin Delivery System
  • Ensure the system is set-up in accordance with supervisor’s instructions.
  • Monitor the system to ensure proper levels of resin are made available on each line.
  • Make up resin/regrind mix as required.
  • Probe all regrind gaylords for metallic contamination and report all contaminated material to supervisor or extrusion technician.
  • Monitor mixers to ensure proper setting/operation.
  • Clean all filters as required.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of color mix for color feeders and stripers.
  • Monitor feeders and stripers for proper setting/operation.
  • Set up regrind gaylords for mixing and use with maguires.
  • Process/Equipment MonitoringKnow and understand the operation of pull-line feed equipment.

Maintain the proper tape in products requiring pull-line.
Maintain proper cable in products requiring cable in duct.
Make minor repairs to feed equipment, such as tightening loose rolls, adjusting feed rate to maintain proper tension, etc.
Pull tape onto floor, if tape feeders are not available, to ensure that any obstructions are removed from the tape path.
Monitor water level and temperature.
Set up and monitor air rings as required.
Monitor and maintain all lubrication equipment ensuring proper levels of lubricant are being dispersed.
Make minor repairs to equipment such as replacement of lube wands, cleaning filter, etc.

  • Disposal of Waste/Clean Up
  • Put floor dry in designated containers only.
  • Put floor sweep in gaylords marked “FLOOR SWEEP ONLY” (No blobs or floor dry).
  • Put trash in trash containers.
  • Empty cable reels – disposes of as instructed by supervisor.
  • Keep floor clean on a continuous basis to reduce risk of injury and follow safety requirements.

Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Follow all safety requirements for the position and all company safety guidelines.
Complete appropriate documentation to ensure accurate inventory transactions.
Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Hours:

  • Days: 7:00am-7:30pm
  • 12 hour rotating schedule

Schedule:

  • One week you work 48 hours and the next week you work 36 hours
  • Total of 84 hours for a pay period
  • Every Other Weekend Off
  • Work 15 days a month

PAY :

  • Starting Pay for this entry level position is $ 17.00
  • Paid Bi Weekly ( 84 hours )
  • 8 of the 84 hours is scheduled overtime
