JOB DESCRIPTION


Position Title:
EHS Substitute

Reports to: Director Pay Range: $80 a day

Length of Days: On Call As Needed


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide a nurturing and responsive learning environment that promotes a caring, calm and respectful interaction with families, children, volunteers, and staff at Early Head Start.
  • Use and understands the Early Head Start positive discipline guidance policy.
  • Support in responding to crisis or emergency situations that may occur.
  • Implement and support lesson plans that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers, while respecting the parental and cultural influences of the family.
  • Lifts up to 40lbs.
  • Assistance with data entry, kitchen duties, reception duties, handling donations or other clerical duties.
  • In the absence of a regular Early Head Start Teacher, perform the duties of a regular Early Head Start teacher during classroom hours.
  • Provide childcare and other support during parent involvement activities.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and appropriate professional development activities.
  • Assure general maintenance, organization, cleanliness, and security of facility.
  • Ensure that children are supervised at all times.
  • Ensure that all cases of suspected abuse and neglect are reported in accordance with Georgia statute.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proof of High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • General knowledge of child development, nutrition, health and safety.
  • Must possess an interest in children and families.
  • Must have good grammar and writing skills.
  • Must show willingness to acquire basic technology competencies.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a reliable personal vehicle available for use in job related travel with a minimum of liability insurance.
  • Must maintain high degree of professionalism and sensitivity to confidentiality rights of families and employees.
  • Successfully pass a background check, completed once every 5 years.
  • Within thirty (30) days of employment, pass an initial health screening.
  • Proof of Hepatitis immunization and screening for tuberculosis (TB) to assure that there is no significant risk to the health and safety of others.
  • Must have satisfactorily completed an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR course for infants and toddlers.
