This is a 10 month contract position at our Early Head Start locations in Charlotte Court House. Classrooms are mixed age group birth to three. Qualified candidates must possess at a minimum a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or 1 year certificate from a community college. Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years prior experience working with infants and toddlers. COVID 19 vaccine and drug screening required. We are willing to train the right professional.

Infant/Toddler Teachers must have knowledge and experience in the philosophy and practices of Head Start (or comparable child development programs), and early childhood education and developmentally appropriate practices. Must have previous experience as the person primarily responsible for classroom operations including planning, carrying out activities, maintaining the environment, assessing children, supervising children, mentoring Teaching Assistants, and conducting parent/teacher conferences.

1. Implement educational programming to enhance the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of the children in your care.

2. Promote positive parent-child interactions.

3. Conduct developmental screenings and assessments of children.

4. Ensure referrals for developmental, behavioral, medical and other concerns are made in a timely manner.

5. Conduct home visits and parent conferences, as prescribed by the leadership team, to discuss the child's individual development and progress, assist the parents in developing observational skills and solicit parent observations.

6. Actively participate in required trainings and ongoing professional development.

7. Teach using Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers & Twos. Responsible for lesson planning with intentional instruction and individualization. Aligning curriculum to the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five

8. Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing online portfolio through Teaching Strategies Gold, including assessments, daily observations in applicable content areas, and examples of children's work.

9. Guide daily activities to promote learning and development. To include diapering, feeding, potty training, outside play, circle time, story time, hands on learning activities, small groups, language acquisition, motor skill development, socialization, and emotional support.

10. Maintain an age appropriate classroom environment in line with ITERS, licensing standards and developmental needs of the children in care.

11. Be familiar with the CLASS observation tool and best practices for adult child interactions.

12. Actively participate in monitoring and feedback sessions. Be open and receptive to change and personal growth.

13. Possess and understand of stages of development for infants/toddlers.

14. Work with program Administrative staff to implementing children's I.F.S.P and seek clarification for any aspect that is not well understood.

15. Assist with transition activities.

16. Distribute newsletters, flyers and other information to families.

17.Complete and submit required forms and records in a timely and accurate fashion, e.g., lesson plans, portfolio forms assessment, time sheets, meal reports, etc.

18. Attend staff training, meetings, and parent meetings as requested.

Pay: $13.00 - $13.50 per hour
