POSITION SUMMARY:


CASA in Action is seeking a well-organized self-motivator for a full-time position as the Elections Data & Compliance Manager in the following states: MD, PA, VA and GA. The Elections Data & Compliance Manager will play a key role in the advancement of the progressive movement, both through voter engagement, member empowerment, and election activity. This position is ideal for someone who has mid-level campaign experience and is eager to learn more, has a passion for guiding team members with data driven results, and is excited about the details and tools that power direct voter outreach programs.

The position works directly with the CASA in Action Executive Director, and Program Directors, as well as dozens of progressive partners in different states. The ideal candidate will be a highly effective, self-motivated leader with 4+ years of experience in elections, political campaigns, data management, election laws & policy, data management and integrity, and/or campaign finance.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


Data & Evaluation:
  • Supporting regional/state teams in the use and management of voter file, community contact data systems, and all election related databases
  • Responsible for collecting and housing all electoral data securely
  • Train staff on standard data processes, conveying the purpose and value of strong data management practices
  • Supporting the national data program by monitoring state benchmarks, performance, and identifying gaps in data collection
  • Provide data, targeting and technological guidance and support for program development, issue or electoral campaigns.
  • Assist staff and affiliates in developing strategies, data processes, and reporting to accurately measure progress toward organizing goals.
  • Support the management of canvass turf and mail coordination tools, process and implementation
  • Responsible for supporting regional managers running programs in the state including field operations, integrating best practices, and using voter contact tools like SmartVAN, Get Thru, Periscope and CIVIS
  • Support special projects and programs that might include Get Out the Vote events, Days of Action, or other special projects
  • Create and conduct training on voter contact tools for staff, staff training on campaign related topics for regional managers

Elections Compliance:

  • Develop an understanding of federal, state and local election and campaign finance laws and regulations
  • Work directly with compliance attorney and general counsel to develop firewall memos, and internal policies
  • Develop and implement staff training presentations, documents, and policies on election compliance rules
  • Works closely with CASA Data & Technology team and General Counsel


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:


  • Must have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree; or
  • At least four years of experience combined in either data & evaluation, elections, issues campaigns, and/or election laws and compliance.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:


  • Experience working with immigrant, working-class, and historically marginalized communities
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • High level of competency with Excel or Google Sheets, Google Slides or related tools.
  • Must be comfortable using spreadsheets, and should have a working knowledge of - or be able to quickly pick up: pivot tables, filters, text to columns, and creating simple charts.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Self-motivated with a track record of displaying leadership and building team morale.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience working with underrepresented and/or historically marginalized communities, particularly in political, electoral, and organizing settings
