- Job Responsibilities:*
- This position will support the US Army Flexible Engine Diagnostic System (FEDS) Branch.
- Must be able to work independently, often acting without direct supervision, be self-motivated, and able to build strong relationships across multiple project offices and external agencies with all levels of government employees.
- Candidates are expected to travel on-site to Army, National Guard, and Air Force engine test facilities.
- Calibration and correlation of the FEDS and other duties that may develop during turbo shaft engine testing test environment.
- Utilize technical engineering knowledge with Engine Test Cell operational, maintenance and system experience in combination with technical inputs to arrive at the best solution to establish and maintain airworthiness.
- Conduct investigations and work with project managers, OEMs and functional organizations to resolve technical and airworthiness issues.
- Participate in product/test teams and technical meetings/reviews.
- Individual will be responsible for various duties generated by the customer.
- R&D of Conditioned Based Maintenance operation and testing, prototype development of Modernized Flexible Engine Diagnostics System (MFEDS)
- Travel up to 75% of the time for temporary duty CONUS/OCONUS locations in support of FEDS systems, with the primarily travel focus being on CONUS based locations.
- Work involves regular exposure to high noise levels of test equipment in operation and hazardous conditions such as volatile fuels, high pressure fluids, energized electrical panels and high temperature rotating equipment.
- Protective equipment and/or clothing are worn as required by safety standards in the areas visited.
- Work requires regular and recurring CONUS/OCONUS on-site equipment support with frequent bending, stooping, crouching as well as climbing in and about machinery while investigating problems or design considerations.
- The work typically includes varied duties that require many different and unrelated processes and methods depending on customer site support requirements and location activities.
- The technician is engaged in manufacturing, modifying, installing, and adjusting complete Flexible Engine Diagnostics Systems (FEDS) in support of a variety of turbine engines support entities.
- The technician will provide on-site electronic and mechanized systems technical assistance to a variety of CONUS and OCONUS field activities.
- Successful missions require a complete understanding of FEDS electrical and mechanical drawings used for the purposed of trouble shooting mechanical and electrical problems.
- The technician will be responsible for all task and will require comprehensive interpretation of data to execute a decisive corrective work plan.
- Qualified applicants must be in compliance with Federal COVID-19 contractor guidance or be willing to adhere prior to initiation of employment.
Education and General Experience:
- A High School Diploma/GED and (10) years of technical aviation maintenance experience is required, with 4 years working on military avionics or engine test cells.
- Electrical engineer technician with an emphasis in Army avionics, indicators, and cabling.
- Ability to read and interpret Army technical drawings, schematics, and technical data packages.
- Experience with engine test cell operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to use skills, tools, and test equipment to calibrate and perform routine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex aviation related test platforms
- Ability to work unsupervised or as a part of team.
- Skills required to use MS Office Suite.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with the Army FEDS test cell operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Experience with turbo shaft engine operations and testing methods
- Experience with development/test/qualification process.
Clearance Requirements: Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance and maintain a Secret Clearance
