About the Job
Micropac is looking for an Electrical Power Applications Engineer (EPAE) with a strong technical background in power distribution, switching, regulation, and conversion within spacecraft, military vehicles, and high reliability industrial applications. Specific experience with space radiation effects, redundant power systems, and power system requirements definition is required. Experience in defining requirements and design for DC/DC converters, solid state power switching and overload protection is required. Experience with power levels from a few Watts to 10+ KW and voltages ranging from a few Volts to 480V are a plus. Experience with digitally managed and controlled power products is preferred. Experience through a complete design cycle including requirements definition, detailed design, requirements verification, and release to production is a plus.
Job Responsibilities
The essential functions and key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
Conducting workshops with customers, peers, and suppliers to define electrical power solutions from proposal to product offering. These responsibilities will include design tradeoff study, capture of customer requirements, critical review of proposed designs, mentor the design team, and provide oversight during design validation and qualification. Input to new product roadmaps and strategic planning is part of this job function. This position will require significant communication with customers, suppliers, and other stake holders with proficiency in this regard is a job requirement. The ability to prototype electrical power solutions in the laboratory and direct staff in these activities is required.
The EPAE will lead by example and work cross functionally to achieve the VP Microelectronics Business Unit’s product development goals.
What You'll Do:
- Engage with key customers, target markets and internal stakeholders to develop product development proposals.
- Provide hands on management and support of new product definition, development and release to market.
- Create MRDs (Market Requirement Documents) and kick-off new product development in support of product line roadmap.
- Prototype product for customer demonstration and production-ready power solutions.
- Engage stakeholders with technical discussions of product issues
- Travel up to 25%
What You'll Need:
- 4 years in a Product Definition or Applications role
- Strong communication abilities, written and oral
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across multiple functional organizations
- BSEE from an accredited institution
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- MSEE
- Spacecraft power architecture definition experience.
- Existing relationships within the aerospace, medical, and industrial markets
