Position: Speech Pathologist

Reports to: Principal

Location: STRIVE Prep - Ruby Hill Elementary

Start Date: August 1st, 2022 or as soon as possible

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess a current Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License with an Endorsement in Speech.
  • Hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (communication disorders) or progress towards such a degree.
  • Have experience as a school speech-language pathologist, preferably in elementary grades.
  • Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) supervision is available upon request.
  • Must possess a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech.
  • Must possess a current certificate for Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, renewed as required.

  • Experience using Enrich IEP writing platform
  • Speaks Spanish and has experience working with bilingual students
  • Demonstrated success working with students of color
  • Experience in Title I schools
  • Experience in a charter network
  • Experience working in a school setting with students with varied disabilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assess and treat students with language, pragmatics, articulation, functional communication, voice, and fluency disorders.
  • Provide direct and indirect interventions/therapy to students, according to their special education Individualized Education Program (IEPs).
  • Act as a collaborative IEP team member through the timely completion of evaluations, student observations, written reports, and parent/teacher interviews, in order to create specially designed programming for students on your caseload.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, school leaders, curriculum specialists, and the special education team to ensure that instruction is always meeting the needs of all learners as well as consulting on student cases to determine if additional supports are needed.
    • Consistently progress monitor IEP goals and complete progress reports to be sent home to parent quarterly.
    • Establish systems and routines in order to create a safe, purposeful and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Take responsibility for the safety and learning of all students in the school.
  • Communicate regularly and often with families to both solicit their input and share student social and academic progress.
  • Share knowledge with individuals and groups concerning communication, language and literacy development. May be responsible for training school personnel such as MI Directors and Educational Assistants so that they can implement appropriate strategies with children.
  • Complies with Special Education department and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid billing, accident reporting).
