The Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board is seeking full-time, and part time Emergency Services Counselors (some on call nights and weekends). Positions available in Tappahannock and Gloucester, VA. A rare opportunity to join a state of the art Emergency Services team in the beautiful Northern Neck of Virginia. Our team of individuals are known throughout the state for Crisis Stabilization and fast track access to services. Duties: assessment, counseling, and care coordination for people in crisis.

Under general supervision, and in the context of emergency services, employee is responsible for providing critical support and interventions to effectively address behavioral health, intellectual disabilities and substance use emergencies challenging individuals and families in our community. Interventions include crisis intervention, emergency evaluations/ preadmission screenings, crisis stabilization, and case management services to those individuals at risk of hospitalization. Employee must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations. Employee provides after-hours crisis intervention services on a scheduled basis.

Employee must exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the effective and efficient administration of departmental programs. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, persons served, families, public, and service provides. Required: 60 hour Masters in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology and QMHP. Two years of crisis management experience and
current certification or eligible for certification as a Pre Screener and Pre Admissions evaluator within 6 months of hire. Must posses a valid Virginia Drivers License and good driving record. Must obtain a satisfactory TB test or screening at employment and annually as required by licenseing authority. Required to pass drug screening.
