JOB SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineer will deal with the conception, design and development of new processes and products. He or she will be responsible for developing new processes or products, continually improving current products, and developing new manufacturing methods. This role will also support the Greencastle plant via capital projects and divisional initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Comply with westlake Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements
  • Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process
  • Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as performance quotas
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaborating and cohesion
  • Source and select auxiliary materials and packaging as needed for projects
  • Establish an effective and efficient work sequence (project management)
  • Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems
  • Develop standardized design criteria across all product lines
  • Routinely visit plants to provide support, evaluate plant operations, and provide requested assistance (travel up to 50%)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding and ability in 2D and 3D CAD software design tools
  • Knowledge of drafting and specification standards to oversee the creation of production ready documentation
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in process improvement, metric development, and problem solving
  • Communicate effectively and tactfully with customers, managers and all levels of employees.
  • Provide clear direction and explain technically complicated information in layman’s terms
  • History of progressive responsibility a plus
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • ~5 years' experience in functional role

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements such as typing
  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
