SUMMARY

The Engineering Assistant will provide support to the Director of Engineering and the engineering department by coordinating a variety of day to day tasks and assisting production to achieve target output with quality product.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Effectively communicate design change requests to the director for approval by getting the paperwork and details from the shop floor employees.

2. Take completed designs and enter them into company systems
3. Assist with the creation of designs by planning preparation activities, performing design computations, generating models, and/or entering into auto CAD
4. Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost reports, forecasts, schedules, account codes, budgets, and change orders.
5. Coordinate quantity estimates by obtaining and analyzing data on unit labor costs and unit material costs.

6. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field and/or one to three years of experience in a machining shop, fabrication shop, mechanical engineering, or structural engineering.

2. Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and excel.
3. Auto Cad, 3D modeling, and Epicor experience are preferred.
4. Drafting and designing experience are a plus.
5. Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and work effectively with officials at all levels of the company.
6. Receptive to expanding knowledge and learning new skills.
7. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
