What to Expect
As an Engineering Program Manager in the Occupant Safety & Restraint Engineering team, you will support the engineers to validate components, systems, and launch vehicles for all current and future Tesla vehicles in all geographic locations where Tesla manufactures vehicles (USA, Europe & China). You will work cross-functionally with various teams, from early stages of design development to launch, validation and SOP ramp.


You must thoroughly understand the needs of the business to help develop timelines, workflows and plans that solve for Tesla’s aggressive targets. You will be part of the global team that creates and executes world-class vehicles in terms of form, function and luxury.

Commodities of particular importance for this role include airbags, seat belts and crash/pedestrian sensing with the integration of these commodities into a finished vehicle meets all internal safety targets. You will utilize your expertise in managing complex commodities and work with a lean and agile team of the best automotive engineers in the industry. You will report to the team management, while working with safety engineering team members, supply chain and manufacturing stakeholders and engineering program managers for related vehicle subsystems.

What You’ll Do
  • Define, implement and drive program requirements, workflows and plans while managing timelines, risks, uncovering roadblocks, defining critical paths, and any other issues that arise for the launch and validation of new safety & restraint systems and components in all Tesla factories
  • Work continuously with supplier project managers to keep their timelines in line with program timelines and deliverables
  • Establish a roadmap that supports the launch of new features and functionality in the product roadmap
  • Drive the global pilot launch of new systems and components by building cross-functional partnerships across the organization
  • Work with other EPMs and Vehicle PMO to drive continuous and efficient communication
  • Provide insight around potential risks and opportunities, resolve conflict, initiate resolution and deliver results.
  • Identify and document all program milestones and deliverables and keep program plans up to date at all times, including monitoring schedules, milestones, deliverables, and updating percentage completion
  • Plan for the global implementation of changes to restraint components and systems according to Tesla Change Management process
  • Collaborate with suppliers and to support overall vehicle launch milestones and prototype/production build events
  • Support the Tesla test engineering teams to ensure systems and components are delivered in time to local testing sites and suppliers in order to ensure DVP plans are properly executed
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding system/part level validation timelines to ensure completion of DVP timelines
  • Support supplier industrialization engineers in establishing and monitoring production readiness metrics
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in automotive or manufacturing required
  • Demonstrated ability to execute complex projects with interconnected tasks in parallel, across teams, in a short timeframe, with ability to pivot rapidly
  • Basic knowledge of CAD is preferred. CATIA experience is desirable
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, including Enovia/3DExperience
  • Experience with agile project management systems and methodologies (including JIRA project setup and execution)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to use data and metrics for quantifying risks and making recommendations
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
