Summary of Job Duties:
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is accepting applications for a full- faculty position in English. The University of Arkansas is a state supported 1890 land grant HBCU with a diverse student population, competitive degree offerings and stellar faculty. It is located 44-miles south of Little Rock, the state capital of Arkansas. The successful candidate could join our instructional team as early as January 2023. This position requires a commitment to teaching in a dynamic college setting and the ability to successfully interact and respond to the broad ranging needs of an academically and culturally diverse campus setting.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
Candidates for this position must have earned a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the discipline and have higher education teaching experience. Candidates must have flexibility to teach face-to-face and online classes. Also, candidates must also possess excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
College teaching experience and experience with online course development and instruction is preferred.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching assignments will chiefly include co-requisite (developmental and college-level) composition courses and may include literature and departmental elective courses. These assignments may be at a variety of times and may include online courses. The faculty member will participate in professional development activities as needed and perform all other assigned duties associated with the function of the Department of English, Humanities, and Foreign Languages.
Candidates must possess a thorough knowledge of the teaching field, a demonstrated commitment to student success with a student-centered approach to education, a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and effectiveness, an understanding and appreciation of an applied approach to the study of the discipline, and a willingness to follow the approved departmental curriculum established by the departmental faculty, chair, and dean. Candidates must have a commitment to student development in and outside of the classroom. Candidates must also have the ability to communicate and work effectively with students, college faculty and staff, and the community.
Other responsibilities of the position include assessment of student learning and departmental programs; a commitment to developing and following institutional and departmental policies and procedures; the ability to establish and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with students, colleagues, and staff; the ability and willingness to use contemporary educational techniques and technology; and the ability to adapt.
