Position Overview

Align seeks an Entry Level Data Center Analyst to address the pivotal role of project support, reporting to a Senior Project Manager. Align’s Data Center Solutions focus on designing and installing the physical layer of the data center – HVAC; Power Distribution; Structured, Low Voltage Cabling and Space Planning. The Analyst will be a multi-talented, disciplined individual with an interest in and understanding of infrastructure and data center technologies. This is a great opportunity to learn about analyzing, designing, and building enterprise data centers. Analysts will be tasked with assist with installing equipment on data center projects, coordinating project plans, and maintaining documentation. Analysts receive training while being mentored by senior IT consultants and Project Managers. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical and soft skills, including the ability to think critically and possess a strong grasp of data analysis. Qualified candidates must be detail-oriented with excellent communication and writing skills. This person must be organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • The IT Project Analyst will be based in our New York City; however, about 50 percent travel should be expected
  • This is a full-time position offering full benefits, a competitive salary, and paid training

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site consulting support for Align clients as directed by the assigned the Data Center Solutions Director or Project Manager
  • Work on design and build projects for data center facilities (MEP - Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) including the physical layer / white space buildout of new data centers: HVAC; Power Distribution; Physical Security; Structured, Low Voltage Cabling; Racks & Cabinets
  • Participate in various IT project management activities including site surveys, needs assessments, preparation of documentation, scheduling vendor installations, data analysis and coordination of various project deliverables
  • Contribute to the RFP process, project planning, current-state vs. target-state assessments and client presentations
  • Assist with the administration of projects including acting as a scribe and transcribing meeting minutes, making updates to budget and project plans, creating project documentation, etc.
  • Install equipment within data center and co-location facilities
  • Assist with trouble shooting technical issues that arise during data center installation and build-out
  • Create visuals of data center cabinet elevations, network diagrams and floor plans using graphics programs, such as Visio and Asset Point
  • Assist with client billing
  • Become knowledgeable of company standards and procedures
  • Learn the Align toolset including Asset Point, CAD, ASMT, CFD, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree related to IT, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Project Management
  • Any experience related to Data Center MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), such as power distribution or structured cabling
  • IT Project Management career trajectory
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio
  • Some IT infrastructure (Systems, Network, Security, Storage) product/industry knowledge
  • Internship or co-op experience related to IT infrastructure or data centers is preferred
  • Must be eager to learn and willing to be hands-on
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and writing skills are required
  • Excellent analytical and facilitation skills, with proven ability to manage multiple projects, resolve and escalate issues and prioritize technical resources
  • Ability to maintain focus, shift attention quickly to respond to the unexpected while progressing on tasks/projects
