This position is located in the Environmental Division within the Public Works Department, Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC). The Environmental Division is responsible for aspects of the Navy environmental protection program in Ventura County. The Environmental Compliance and Services Branch Head, which is responsible for certain aspects of the NBVC environmental program including Hazardous Waste Compliance, Hazardous Waste Services, Water Program, Air Program, Spill Prevention and Spill Response and Environmental Management System.

This position is open to qualified Environmental Engineers & Environmental Physical Scientists with education and experience in the appropriate disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Plans, schedules, budgets, and coordinates the environmental programs of the station and its tenant commands into an integrated, cost effective, and systematic plan of action
• Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local agencies, including meeting requirements for permitting, preparation of plans, and programs for environmental protection
• Reviews military activities and Navy and contractor project proposals to ensure regulatory compliance, and timely coordination with regulatory agencies; and
• With the IEPD develops, programs, manages, and controls the environmental budget for all Environmental Compliance and Services Branch projects.

Must have experience in:

• This position will require proven knowledge and experience in dealing with a multitude of environmental regulations including but not limited to: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and Safe Drinking Water Act
• Reviewing projects, operations, and/or training programs to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations; and
• Managing environmental programs, including planning, scheduling, budgeting and coordinating effective solutions.

Requirements:

- US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
