Job Summary:

The EO Assembly Group Leader will assist in coordinating workload for area of responsibility, this includes but is not limited to resources, tools, equipment, supplies and employees to meet or exceed schedule requirements. The position will support the manager by regularly providing information on any changes in time standards, scrap factors, process steps and recorded quantities for all jobs assigned to area of responsibility as well as work with manager and peers to identify, develop and implement methods for reducing waste while improving throughput and communication.


Job Responsibilities

Core Job Duties:

  • Act as back up for manager/supervisor by maintaining intimate knowledge of all aspects of the area of responsibility
  • Assist in training, scheduling and maintain training logs to ensure all new staff are trained and properly documented.
  • Process parts or components on jobs in que and maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Ensure the area of responsibility is working to meet or exceed schedule requirements and support manager in day-to-day scheduling for all equipment and staffing resources.
  • Work closely with the QA Engineer and Manufacturing Engineer in ensuring employees follow all defined requirements and record all required data for each job as well as train and coordinate efficient well thought out processes.
  • Provide support, for in process inspection where required.
  • Ensure all data entry is occurring on a daily basis, and staff in the area of responsibility accurately enter all data entering.
  • Troubleshoot issues with current jobs and communicate back to manager/supervisor.
  • Act as a technical knowledge resource for area of responsibility.
  • Communicate any information needed to perform job; field concerns and new ideas for team.
  • Maintain high level of communication with manager/supervisor and provide team status update, concerns as well as achievements.
  • Identify tooling, fixturing, material or consumable needs required to deliver on schedule product.
  • Assist manager/supervisor in maintaining inventory of consumables as well as required material/chemicals for the scheduled builds and indicate any purchasing needs for area or responsibility.
  • Work with ME and manager to develop new processes and participate in documentation efforts.
  • Perform regular audits of existing process and communicate any issues to manager/supervisor.
  • Help maintain and drive team motivation by leading weekly meetings with updates to team on progress and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with part tracking and expediting component movement through communication with planners and manager/supervisor.
  • Assist with maintaining a preventative maintenance program for equipment used in area or responsibility.
  • Follow and enforce all company safety precautions, policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Requirements and Competencies

Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a production environment related to the department or equivalent work experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent - prefer associates, trade or tech degree


Minimum Requirements:

  • Good understanding of many aspects, concepts and tools related to the area of responsibility and the required disciplines
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, and properly manage available time
  • Leadership qualities
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Epicor or equivalent MRP/ERP
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills both written and verbal, capable of basic troubleshooting
  • Capable of understanding blueprints or drawings for both mechanical and optical standards
  • Ability to work in a challenging, fast paced and high-stress environment
  • Good mental dexterity and decision making
  • Analytical troubleshooting / problem solving
  • Can maintain clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.


Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents
  • Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management and peers

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms and to use hands and fingers to handle, maneuver parts
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear
  • The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp
  • The employee is frequently required to use the computer
  • The job may require regular lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Job requires flexibility in schedule and potential overtime or weekend work


Work Environment:

  • May involve the use of oils and solvents.
  • Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)
  • Generally, works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.
  • Safety Glasses are required
  • May require area specific safety training
  • This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • May work at different workstations as needs require

RPO offers highly competitive, total compensation packages linked directly to employee’s professional experience. Additionally, we work a 4/10 work week that provides for every Friday as a non-work day.
