Are you new to being a Kennel Assistant and interested in working at a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital? Did you just graduate from High School and your would like to start a career in veterinary medicine?Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Services has positions for full-time and part-time Kennel Assistants for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift openings with flexible hours up for discussion. We are seeking driven and responsible individuals who are eager to learn in a fast-paced veterinary environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are interested in, plan to, or are already enrolled in a veterinary technician program or individuals who have little experience in a veterinary setting and would like to continue their career at an emergency hospital.

Essential functions and responsibilities of a Kennel Assistant include:

• Maintaining general cleanliness in treatment areas throughout the hospital
• Stocking supplies in multiple areas of the hospital
• Managing patient dishes and laundry needs
• Assisting with heavy lifting when needed

Expected skills to be learned by a Kennel Assistant under direct supervision of veterinary technicians include:

• Assisting the veterinary technicians with patient care (walks and feedings for hospitalized patients, removing soiled bedding and cleaning/bathing patients)
• Basic animal restraint for non-invasive procedures such as venipuncture, radiographs, and ultrasounds

Metropolitan Veterinary Emergency Services is a fast-paced emergency service and fully functional ICU open 7 days a week with a Criticalist, diverse DVM staff, and experienced support staff.

• Our hospital houses an emergency and ICU department as well as a number of specialty departments including surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, internal medicine, and neurology with board-certified doctors in each department.

This Position:

We are interested in a Kennel Assistant with preferably little to some experience in the veterinary field or working with animals. This is an entry-level position and applicants with no experience are encouraged to apply and will be strongly considered as well. We require that the applicant is 18+. Hourly wages for this position are $12-$15/hour depending on experience and performance. Benefits offered for full-time employees include:
