About Community Housing Advocates

Community Housing Advocates (CHA) is the parent company of Mercy Housing and Shelter and My Sisters’ Place, who joined forces in 2018. For over thirty-five years, these two agencies have provided housing assistance and supportive services to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. CHA works to empower its clients to become independent, so they may live and work with dignity and respect. CHA also seeks to end homelessness by advocating for changes in the social systems that perpetuate homelessness.

CHA hosts multiple housing sites offering short-term and long-term housing for individuals and families. Through these sites and its related programs, CHA has helped thousands of people in our community, providing them with a warm place to stay, food for themselves and their children, and services that are designed to get them back onto the road to independence—including medical care, management of financial affairs, and much, much more.


Responsibilities

  • Calendar management for leadership (scheduling meetings, conferences, travel arrangements, and more)
  • Respond to emails and document requests on behalf of executive leadership
  • Draft documents and presentations for meetings
  • Manages scheduling seminars and workshops for senior leadership
  • Organize and prepare for meetings, including gathering documents and attending to the logistics of meetings both virtual and in-person meetings
  • Take minutes of meetings and distribute in a timely manner
  • Prepare reports, research special topics, synthesizing material and gathering information as requested
  • Always maintain confidentiality in all work duties
  • Perform any other task as requested by executive leadership


Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Five or more years supporting C-Level executives in a fast-paced and complex office environment
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities, administrative coordination, and logistics
  • Ability to prioritize and meetings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including virtual settings
  • Clean driving record and ability to travel to multiple sites within Hartford.

  • $56,000-$60,000 annually based on experience.
  • Full-time employees receive generous PTO (Paid time off), plus 12 paid holidays

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must have valid Connecticut driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of automobile insurance.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.
