SMSI is looking for a Facility Maintenance Engineer for work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, New Mexico. This is a full-time position and can be a flex work schedule.

Job Description

As the Facility Maintenance Engineer, you will undergo training to become qualified and Certified Facility Manager at LANL. This position will provide you the initial field experience, supervisory, and leadership skills in operations and maintenance to support a LANL facility and including upgrades. The job will require work planning, scheduling, estimating, subcontract management, facility operations, front line supervision and field execution. In addition, you will be trained to provide direct oversight of maintenance craft and subcontractors including system turnover process.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of basic construction engineering principles.
• Aptitude in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness, constructability, and operability.
• Ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
• Aptitude for conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes, and standards.

• Aptitude in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.
• Knowledge of interface relationships with functional groups such as Engineering, Construction, Project Management and Operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting construction industry specifications, construction means and methods, and national construction codes and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
• Ability to conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes, and standards.
• Demonstrated proficiency in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers, the constructor, and operations personnel.
• Maintains direct working relationships with Project Management, Project and Field Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, Procurement personnel to ensure mutual understanding, development, and attainment of objectives.

• Reviews any schedule revisions for impacts and participates in the development of contingency planning.

Requirements:

• Bachelor s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
• 0-2 years minimum of relevant experience.
