Facilities Painter

Pay: Depending on Experience

General Position Summary: Acts as an internal consultant on color schemes, fabric selections, window treatments, hardware and finishes for walls, ceiling, floors, cabinets and finishes. Applies paints, varnishes, stains, and hangs/repairs wallpaper to interior and/or exterior surfaces using commonly accepted industry techniques.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

• Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old paint using paint remover, scrapers, wire brushes or blowtorch
• Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints using caulking, putty, plaster, or other fillers
• Applies and/or repairs wallpaper
• Primes surfaces as necessary according to the paint application to be utilized
• Makes recommendations to management on the correct manner in which to make repairs in an effort to reduce future expenditures
• Participates in periodic property walk-throughs
• Acts as an interior designer and decor liaison between PME, general contractors and sub-contractors on new and remodel projects

Secondary Functions:

• Follows all PME safety policies and reports unsafe work conditions immediately and prior to the commencement of any work
• Provides recommendations for and implements design and decor changes and/or enhancements
• Maintains and updates catalogs, sample books and other design materials
• Must hold a valid state of WA drivers license
• Will assist the Engineering Department personnel as necessary to insure workflow
• Perform other job related duties as assigned

Specific Job Skills:

• Ability to use hand and power tools, safely and efficiently
• Must be able to troubleshoot equipment using a schematic, diagram (prints), or construction blueprints
• Familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures
• Relies on practical judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals
• Basic mathematical skills used to determine amount of product necessary to complete projects
• Ability to provide color design, coordination and consultation for various interior design projects
• Extensive knowledge of interior design products, costs and application

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED required. Minimum two (2) four (4) years industry experience required. Formal trade school or demonstrated practical application of commercial painting and interior design concepts are preferred.

Job Scope: Performs duties independently with little or no supervision, operating from established maintenance/engineering procedures and safety regulations. Decisions are made by Manager and within general department policy, but occasionally requires independent decision-making. Has access to general gaming and operations area for the purpose of performing job duties.

Job Conditions: Working conditions include inside or outside work, in possible inclement weather conditions for long periods of time. Climbing (stairs and use of ladders), lifting, bending, stooping and crawling into difficult workspaces. Other conditions include working alone, frequent interruptions, evenings and / or weekends.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 75 lbs. while standing, twisting, turning, stooping or bending. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Manual and finger dexterity for operation of personal computers, adding machine, routine paperwork and hand and power tools.
