Bar Harbor Bank and Trust is seeking to fill a full-time Facilities Technician, for Newport, NH.

The position is responsible for carrying out the general maintenance of Bank property and associated facilities infrastructure (environmental controls) in the assigned region, ensuring they are maintained to Bank standards. Duties include the identification and implementation of minor repairs, coordination of routine preventative maintenance tasks, installation of office equipment and furniture.

Responsibilities (Essential):

  • Serves as the day-to-day point-of-contact for facility vendors to include obtaining quotes, coordinating and monitoring work and problem resolution; raises major issues to department managers as appropriate.
  • Provides project oversight for routine intra-office moves, construction and repairs, general maintenance, and exterior improvements.
  • Actively communicates with all business units located within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Provides prompt response to requests and issues in a professional manner; utilizes and maintains accurate records within the electronic facilities helpdesk system.
  • Acts as first facilities responder for emergency and/or ad-hoc maintenance events, keeping management briefed on incident response while maintaining safety protocols during the event.
  • Supports contractor-lead preventive maintenance activities (i.e. fire suppression, HVAC, elevators etc.).
  • Implements routine, seasonal, scheduled preventive maintenance measures.
  • Performs minor ad-hoc interior/exterior facilities repairs, painting, and general upkeep.
  • Supports departmental budgeting, asset inventory, and contractor management initiatives.
  • Works closely with Physical Security to coordinate vendor access and related maintenance.
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes.
  • Enthusiastically support the Bank’s Guiding Principles and Brand Behaviors.
  • Adheres to federal regulatory requirements, such as the Anti-Money Laundering and Bank Secrecy Acts, and all established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities (Marginal):

  • This is a company-wide support role and performs other related departmental duties as necessary.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school degree or the equivalent. Associate Degree or Trade experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of facilities maintenance experience or experience with related trades is required.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems, construction principles, and other facets of facility operation.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with Bank staff and contractors, verbally and via email.
  • Must possess computer skills related to communicating through email, utilization of computerized maintenance management systems, and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Sound problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and reprioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driver's license and experience with towing trailers is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, use hands and fingers, and reach. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds.

Work Environment: Work is regularly performed in a combination of office, shop and outdoor environments; exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.

Schedule Expectations: Regularly scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Some On-Call duty is necessary. Overtime and work on weekends or evenings as necessary.

Required Travel: This position requires travel approximately 60% of work hours. An assigned work vehicle will be provided.
