POSITION TITLE: Facilities Technician II (Plumber)

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Under general supervision, maintain the flow and drainage of water, air and other gases by assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures company wide. Maintain and provide the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems at Clearwater Marine Aquarium and all campuses. Other assignments as directed by supervisors as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Complete daily work orders and projects as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
  • Plumbing skills not limited to; soldering copper, plumbing connections of all types, replacement of valves and flushometers, natural gas, PVC replacement up to 12”, back flow prevention etc.
  • Knowledge of all applicable plumbing codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and written reference materials
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems as well as mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Coordinate projects and repairs with other departments to provide a safe working environment for all staff, guests, and animals.
  • Fabricate various materials to safely achieve assigned work orders
  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe manner to perform daily assigned work orders.
  • Properly and safely provide preventative maintenance on all facilities related equipment
  • Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all staff, guests, and volunteers, while performing daily assigned duties.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid FL driver license
  • Plumbing journeyman license preferred.
  • A minimum of five years’ working experience in a similar role.
  • Basic electrical, mechanical, masonry, HVAC, and carpentry skills.
  • Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
  • Extremely organized with good communication skills.
  • Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, afterhours, and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Lift up to 50lbs to waist level - Frequently.

· Lift up to 20lbs to shoulders and above head – Frequently.

· Walk/stand for long periods of time - Frequently.

· Maneuver safely on uneven terrain or in tight spaces - Frequently.

· Safely climb ladders when needed – Frequently.

· Squat, bend, kneel, twist and reach - Frequently.

· Reach above the shoulders - Frequently.

· Push and pull larger equipment – Frequently.

· Work outdoors in all weather conditions and adapt to changing weather – Frequently.

· Work indoors, under cover without air conditioning or heat – Frequently.
