Family Coordinator – Community Opioid Intervention Project (COIP)

SUMMARY
Works with the Interagency Transition Council (ITC) and family members to plan and coordinate family services through ITC and staff throughout the continuum of care. Establish a system for the identification of families and children in need of services and implement program activities to meet those needs. This position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, discretion, and tact.
JOB DUTIES
- Promotes family, youth, and community engagement in the planning and implementation of opioid use prevention, treatment, and recovery activities.
- Collaborates with relevant partners to build a support system for recovery.
- In conjunction with other program staff, develop community education and awareness campaign to address the opioid epidemic.
- Interviews consumers to determine need, nature, and degree of problem, as well as eligibility and appropriateness for various community programs. Works with clients to develop individualized service plans.
- Provides referrals and follow-up with community-based agencies. Provides case management, follow-up, and support to assist clients in using community resources.
- Develops directory of and relationships with mental health providers, family and support services, and other relevant agencies.
- Attends all required BHS and FNA meetings. Attends professional meetings, workshops, and training as required.
- Ensures participation and collaboration with the Native and Fairbanks community.
- Facilitates non-clinical activities to include educational, cultural, recreational, and social activities.
- May conduct crisis counseling, motivational counseling, and instructional groups within their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- May transport (or coordinate transportation) and supervise consumers on activities, field trips, recreational outings, and appointments following vehicle operation and safety procedures.
- Provides file documentation in accordance with established standards and submits reports and other data in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintains consumer confidentiality in accordance with 42 CFR, Part 2, and HIPAA.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in related field; a combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for degree requirements.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience working with families in a related capacity.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in the field of behavioral health.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
- Experience in the field of substance use disorder treatment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 25 lbs. The majority of work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. The office is a non-smoking facility with outside smoking areas. Requires local travel between various program components of FNA which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of consumer confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided where/when needed.
SPECIFICATIONS
Supervision Exercised: No supervision requirements for this position.
Driving Requirements: This position will require you to drive an FNA-owned vehicle for FNA business. Per FNA’s automotive insurance policy, in order to drive an FNA-owned vehicle, an individual must be at least 21 years of age. In order to drive an FNA-owned vehicle with consumers in the vehicle, an individual must be at least 25 years of age. Consumers may only be transported in FNA-owned vehicles and may not be transported by an employee in a personal vehicle.
This position requires eligibility for FNA automotive insurance as demonstrated by a current Alaska Driver’s License and current driving history and proof of personal liability insurance.
