The Field Manager position at Parterre provides creative opportunities as only a small-business allows, with the behind-the-scenes support of an operationally excellent model. We are searching for a fine gardening professional who is interested in managing their own unique book of work. This individual will have a proven track record in the horticulture industry with extensive personnel management, daily and seasonal prioritization, and intimate client relation experience.

To be a successful part of our management structure, one must possess the ability to first prioritize the needs of 30-40 properties, simultaneously manage several gardeners at once, and maintain a high level of professional communication with clients, gardeners, and superiors. Each one of our Field Managers has their own unique management style, and this is paired with our client’s individual needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 30-40 client properties and all seasonal garden maintenance needs, including but not limited to container planting, landscape management, and holiday décor
  • Team Management
  • Ability to apply creative solutions for complex problems
  • Clear, concise reporting to upper management regarding garden/resource/staffing needs
  • Identify sales opportunities to enhance clients’ spaces and work with sales team to see sale through from conceptual design to completion.
  • Provide on-site training and ongoing mentoring
  • Maintain professional and frequent communication with clients and peers
  • Ensure and oversee a high level of detail and horticultural expertise
  • Manage and provide oversight of all sub-contracted work on properties as well as be able to manage and oversee client budgets
  • Continuously contribute to and promote the Parterre brand to clients and industry peers
  • Manage and carefully document all products sold to each client

Requirements

  • Love of the outdoors and urban spaces
  • Strong sense of aesthetics, color, and balance
  • Background in art and design, while not required, is appreciated
  • Individuals with horticulture or related field experience are encouraged to apply.
  • 3+ years tending perennial gardens, caring for shrubs, pruning trees to 12’, personnel management
  • Basic working knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) required
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrable ability in prioritization of self/others required
  • Ability to work a full day with physical demands
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 40 pounds
  • Current MA driver’s license, clean driving record required
  • Professionalism, effective communication (in all forms), attention to detail, and a passion for learning is of utmost importance

The Position

This is a full-time, seasonal position (late February-December). Parterre Garden Services offers a highly professional and committed work environment that includes competitive pay, bonus program, paid time off, medical and dental benefits, and educational reimbursement. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
