PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible to assist in the performance of financial, operational and compliance reviews of parishes and other diocesan entities. Prepare individual parish financial analysis to be used in the proxy process. Act as a resource to parish business administrators, bookkeepers, finance councils, and parish Treasurer Trustees on implementation of diocese standard accounting policies and procedures.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • One to three years of accounting experience required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • MS Office, with strong Excel skills required.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities, including planning, organizing and decision-making abilities with follow through.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail.
  • Is ethical and honest in all interactions.
  • Keeps sensitive information confidential.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to be patient while working with individuals with a diverse skill set.
  • Assist in the performance of reviews of parishes and other diocesan entities. Prepare documentation of procedures, findings, and recommendations.
  • Gather comparative financial information for parishes making proxy requests.
  • Assist with the collection, review and reporting of the Annual Financial Information for all 157 diocesan parishes.
  • Provide practical counsel to parish business administrators and bookkeepers on implementation of diocesan financial policies.
  • Act as a resource to parishes on various financial matters including; general accounting, payroll laws and reporting, state raffle regulations, and use of diocesan standard accounting software.
  • Performs other special assignments as designated by the Accounting Manager.

PREFERRED:
  • Certified Public Accountant designation.
  • Audit Experience.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for nonprofits.
