Summary

Seeking a part time person to work 20 hours per week (school year) and 15 hours weekly during the summer, including Sundays and Wednesday evenings. Regular schedule: Sunday, Wednesday evenings, and two additional days (Mon, and either Tues, Wed or Thurs) This position will be salaried , paid bi-weekly by direct deposit. The Special Needs Ministry Coordinator will assist in the vision of equipping the body of Christ through gospel-driven opportunities to create and cultivate a secure spiritual home for God's people where they can grow and be nourished, supported, and encouraged through the Youth and Children's Education Ministry.

Duties

Duties include:

• Sunday and Wednesday Advantage

Recruit and interview potential volunteers to serve as one-on-one buddies.
Ensure the safety of the children and volunteers.
Equip volunteers and staff with needed training.
Build relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.
Oversee and/or teach children with special needs, as needed.
Become fully acquainted with each child's particular needs and abilities.
Assist children with special needs with toileting and general hygiene needs
Ensure that all areas and toys are cleaned.

• Weekly

Recruit and interview potential volunteers to serve as one-on-one buddies.
Equip volunteers and staff with needed training.
Build relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.
Organize and maintain any used supplies, including the sensory rooms and sensory kits.
Build community relationships to benefit the participants and improve the ministry.
Communicate with parents and volunteers.
Schedule all buddies.

3. Buddy Break
Recruit, interview, schedule, and train volunteers.
Provide supervision and ensure all paperwork is complete.
Promote, schedule and conduct each Buddy Break, moving from quarterly to monthly.
Communicate with parents and volunteers.
Ensure that all areas and toys are cleaned.
Along with the Children's Ministry Director, buy and order supplies.
Ensure that FPC's Buddy Break contract is up-to-date and requirements are maintained.

5. Finance
Manage the ministry budget and seek permission for purchases.
Assist the Children's Ministry Director in developing an annual budget for the Special Needs Ministry.

6. Special Events and Projects
Provide special outreach events during the year, in collaboration with the Children's Ministry Team, to minister to families (such as, A Night to Shine).
Assist the Children's Ministry Team with volunteer appreciation activities.
Submit articles for The Grapevine and First Glance, as needed.
Coordinate with other staff members to ensure that buddies are provided when requested for church programs and events (such as VBS).
Advise our campus and train volunteers on the FPC role of Kulture City & Sensory Inclusive C

First Presbyterian's Nursery School is a registered program that serves parents of children ages three months through two and half years. Our goal is to help infants and toddlers feel happy and secure at church, feel good about themselves, and learn that God loves them.
