The Minnesota Float Team is part of Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.
Float Team Dietary Assistant Job Highlights:
- $17.50/hour

About the job:
The primary purpose of the Dietary Assistant is to provide quality food service in accordance with all State and Federal regulations and to meet the nutritional and individual needs of the residents in our senior living facilities.
Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- One (1) year of prior work experience.
- Must be willing to work in facilities following infection control precautions and regular testing for COVID-19; vaccination is required due to company policy and state healthcare regulations.
- Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments, instructions, recipe directions and diet order cards.
- Adequate strength, endurance and coordination to meet the strenuous physical demands of such responsibilities as preparing food items, carrying quantity foods, serving meals, handling soiled dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning assigned work areas.
- Undergo background screenings for employment purposes. This includes a criminal and drug screening.
- Ability to work in an area that is often very hot/cold.
- Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
- Numerical ability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have experience working in an assisted living or long-term care environment.
Essentials:
- Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.
- Previous institutional dietary service experience.
- Coordination and dexterity for preparing food and operating dietary equipment safely.
About the Minnesota Float Team:
The Volunteers of America National Services Minnesota Float Team is a team of experienced professionals that are devoted to providing individualized, empathetic assistance to seniors in need of short-term or long-term care. Assignments are available in Maplewood, Anoka, Sleepy Eye, Rochester and other senior care centers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
As a PRN employee, you will enjoy ultimate flexibility and work as little as 4 shifts per month or full-time hours, it is YOUR choice. One (1) year of experience is required - you must be willing to work at any VOA facility that has a need.
