Job Description

Teledyne Judson Technologies (TJT) is a global leader in detectors from the Visible to VLWIR spectrum, offering an extensive range of single element infrared detectors. Two dimensional focal plane arrays (InGaAs, InSb, and HgCdTe) and Integrated Dewar Cooler Assemblies (IDCA) complement our detector portfolio. FPA Research Scientist for advanced IR detector technology development as well as advanced focal plane array (FPA) technology development and FPA fabrication

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
  • Develop advanced IR detector technologies and FPA technologies based on various IR materials such as InGaAs, HgCdTe, SLS etc.
  • Technical leader in IR detector wafer fab processes and FPA fab processes
  • Processing/project leader in FPA fabrication for custom programs
  • Processing/project leader in improving existing wafer fab processes for IR detector production
  • Develop and fabricate novel infrared detectors and FPAs
  • Support wafer fab production for detector yield improvement and troubleshooting
Qualifications
  • Excellent hands-on skills and extensive working experience in all areas of semiconductor wafer processing that involves various compound semiconductor materials used for infrared photodetector and FPA fabrication
  • Excellent skills and hands-on experience in 2D array and FPA fabrication is a plus
  • Hands-on experience in photolithography, wet/dry etchings, dielectric and metal thin film processes, diffusion, wafer surface cleaning, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with all wafer fab process related equipment tools as well as metrology test tools
  • Experience in photomask design is a plus
  • Technical knowledge of infrared detectors (or general photodetectors) and FPA is a plus
  • In-depth semiconductor device and physics is a plus
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
Education and/or Experience
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor wafer fab, or infrared detector fabrication, or any of other optoelectronic devices fabrication
Citizenship Requirements
Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen
