General Manager (GM)
Job description
As General Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the restaurant. From every guest experience, to the P&L statement you will oversee the management team and lead the way for staffing and training. Performance, appearance of the restaurant, and profitability will be key pillars of the position. Document all Human Resource issues and contact Director of Operations immediately.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Discuss with and inform Director of Operations of any major potential changes with regards to your restaurant
Adherence to all labor laws, health codes, safe food handling and sanitation, proper alcohol service, security systems, safety procedures, and computer operations
Provide leadership to all staff members including management team and give guidance where needed
Suggest and initiate necessary changes and improvements as approved
Identify challenges and determine solutions for continued improvement in all aspects of food and beverage service
Prepare documentation for all labor costs paying close attention to overtime and making the proper cuts in order to avoid overtime for all staff – the GM will train all managers in this task and will be held accountable for labor every single week
Hold staff meetings to educate, motivate, and communicate initiatives to all staff
Responsible for FOH staff engagement and morale. Must be upbeat and positive, lead by example, and engage in phenomenal guest service
Responsible for the cleanliness of all dining areas including grooming and uniform of staff
Ensure all in-store guest complaints have been handled and resolved within 24 hours – all online complaints will be handled by Marketing
Forecasting demand with proper budgeting, staffing, and ordering
Own your restaurant – identify talent and grow future leaders for the company, instilling passion and purpose with all staff members
Develop a plan to increase to go sales, catering sales downtown; create relationships with hotels, retail stores, offices, condos, etc – create a way to make this measurable
Working closely with beverage director on cross training service staff on bar knowledge and bar staff on food/service knowledge
Create and manage budgets, procedures, standards, and expectations in all departments
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
