Position Title: GM, Warehouse Distribution (Local Candidates only)

This position reports directly to: Sr. Vice President of Operations

Reporting to this position are: Warehouse Managers

FLSA Status: Exempt

Primary Objective

The GM of Warehouse Distribution leads multiple warehouse operations and associated personnel in a fast-paced, multi-client warehouse environment. Manages all facets of warehouse operations and ensures processes and communications are aligned to meet and exceed customer requirements. Drives development of operating policies and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient distribution of customers’ products and compliance with customer specific guidelines. Ensures positive customer experience, positive customer relationships, and positive customer partnership with The Gilbert Company. Directs the development of all warehouse personnel and operations to support the client relationship.

Principle Duties and End Results

· Responsible for driving results in assigned operation and for direct profit and loss results.

· Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.

· Provides the strategic direction in dealing with the client so that all activities of the warehouse operation align with the client to allow both the client and The Gilbert Company to be successful financially.

· Works directly with management team to ensure proper measuring and monitoring of the complete fulfillment cycle to meet and exceed customer requirements - including receiving and quality inspections, put-away, inventory management and control, picking and packing, value-added services, staging and shipping, and returns management.

· Ensures a safe work environment and equipment operation in compliance with OSHA and local fire and safety regulations.

· Oversees the enforcement of all government regulations related to each of the warehouse operation including but not limited to OSHA and other governmental agencies.

· Drives a culture of a team environment.

· Confers with management, reviews and analyzes activity, operating and sales reports to determine whether modifications in programs or operations are required.

· Manages, analyzes, and drives P&L budgets and productivity reports; works with management team to identify areas in which reductions or modifications can be made in allocating operating budgets.

· Responsible for the overall success, profitability, and satisfaction of customers’ accounts in all buildings managed. Oversees warehouse activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy and maximize profitability.

· Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, motivation, and evaluation of direct reports.

· Establishes and directs a plan of personnel development which will support the customer association, requirements, and specifications.

· Perform other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

· Minimum 10 years’ experience in warehouse management, distribution, and inventory control - preferably in public warehousing or private company with a strong emphasis on high volume distribution.

· Proven track record of successful multi-client warehouse management, including large customers with multi-year service agreements.

· Strong knowledge of warehouse processes, technology, order fulfillment to retail, and supply chain management. Experience working with mass-market retailers is required; retail apparel experience a plus.

· Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Effective organizational and planning skills including the ability to define a problem, collect data, determine root cause, and work to resolution with a team.

· Experience in a direct customer interaction role, with solid background of managing work teams to meet customer expectations.

· Experience developing metrics reporting and interacting directly and frequently with customers.

· Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

· Proven leadership ability; demonstrated ability to build, mentor, train, grow, and lead a team.

· Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, WMS).

· Master’s degree or equivalent required. Advanced coursework or college degree in related field a plus.

Preferred:

· Bilingual – English/Spanish

· Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
