DUTIES:

Center Management Duties

  • Assists with the organization, monitoring, and delegation of work assignments for Center staff.
  • Assists with leading weekly team meetings with Center staff, creating a positive teamwork environment.
  • Provides direct supervision for warehouse staff and schedules regular team and one-on-one meetings.
  • Assists with the processes of hiring, evaluating, and disciplining subordinate staff as necessary.
  • Oversees operation of the warehouse to ensure proper organization, cleanliness, safety, and security. Address all staff reports of warehouse issues.
  • Participates in and assists with the Good Samaritan Committee meetings and attends Department Staff and Safety meetings.
  • Assists with maintaining the Center’s general safety and security procedures, including vehicle safety and maintenance, and working with local police departments regarding safety issues.
  • Ensures that the Center is maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion in accordance with food safety and health code and OSHA standards.
  • Oversees the maintenance and organization of Emergency Disaster Services supplies stored in the warehouse.
  • Assists with the management and coordination of holiday programming, record keeping, distribution, and community events.
  • Manages and coordinates the interviewing, training, and supervising of volunteers and interns.
  • Coordinates and assists with coverage of front desk and warehouse duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Social Service Duties

  • Provides general information and referral services to clients.
  • Assists with delivery of social services programming as needed.
  • Maintains and inputs required data into the Social Service and HMIS databases.
  • Ensures the confidentiality of all case work documents, files, and sensitive client information in accordance with the law and TSA policy.
  • Enforces program policies and disciplinary process, including proper disciplinary notation and/or suspension of services with approval of the Director.
  • Reports all safety incidents to leadership and maintains appropriate records, ensuring the safety of program staff and clients.
  • Assists with the collection, recording, and reporting of program statistics on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains and cultivates effective relationships with local agencies, organizations, and community resources, keeping the public aware of Salvation Army programs.
  • Attends community Social Service agency meetings as needed and stays up to date with available community services.
  • Connects clients to additional Social Service and Corps programs as appropriate.
  • Provides transportation to clients in TSA vehicles as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possesses a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Social Work, from an accredited college or university or has a minimum of two years successful work experience in the administration of a not-for-profit public service agency, including supervision of subordinate staff.
  • Able to supervise and work with individuals from differing socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required.
  • Knowledgeable about other Social Service agencies and providers in our community.
  • Possesses good writing and verbal communication skills. Specific experience in grant writing and reporting, government contracts, and working with funders preferred.
  • Possesses good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other social service software.
  • Able to effectively deal with demanding and/or difficult clients and has understanding of behavioral issues associated with substance abuse and criminal history.
  • Possesses good organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Capable of maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates a strong team player attitude and creates a positive work environment.
  • Has the ability and confidence to perform in the arena of public speaking and public relations.
  • Holds a valid California Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
