Position Description & Details:

This 0.8 FTE position will provide assistance to faculty and staff for grant and contract approval and management process. This is a three-year grant funded position, with the possibility of continuation dependent upon available funds. This position will be located in Fargo, ND and supervised by the Assistant Director, Family & Community Wellness.

Responsibilities:

Assist with the pre-grant preparation, internal approval and submission process.

  • Identify and communicate grant opportunities. Monitor granting agency deadlines and requirements for proposal submission.
  • Assist with grant proposal preparation and submission including development of budgets.
  • Coordinate the internal grant approval process.
  • Review proposal budgets for accuracy and verify allowable expenses before submitted for further approval. Coordinate any necessary revisions.
  • Input grant pre-award information into Novelution for proper routing.
  • Work with Agriculture Administration’s Budget Office and NDSU Sponsored Programs Administration to facilitate grant submission.

Assist with post-grant and contract administration.

  • Work with faculty and staff to implement requests for budget revisions, project amendments, or time extensions on grant funds if needed.
  • Work with PI’s to advise them and be a resource for questions related to allowable expenses for their grant(s).
  • Monitor grant end dates and notify PI of upcoming deadlines.
  • Prepare contracted services agreements for PI when requested.
  • Attend grant meetings with PI’s, project teams and grant funders.
  • Assist grant-funded temporary employees with time entry process and approve hours when requested.
  • Assist with accounts payable entry when needed.
  • Work with auditors to provide requested documentation.

Stay updated in knowledge related to grant/contract processing at NDSU.

  • Attend NDSU Grant Coordinator meetings and any other relevant training opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with key NDSU and Agriculture Administration offices involved in the granting process.

Advertised Salary: $44,000+

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in business, accounting, project coordination or related field.
  • Evidence of effective and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Collegial and professional in conducting responsibilities with colleagues.
  • Experience use of desktop programs, including Microsoft Office Suite for word processing, spreadsheets, database management and emailing.
  • Ability to organize and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with emphasis on accuracy, follow-through and adherence to deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year or more of grant and/or project management experience.
  • Experience with developing a budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting.
