Grant Writer/Developer - 50% FTE - Grant Funded

Overview

975 work hours per year. One year appointment with an option of two additional years. This position will be a regular part time position with Roane State Community College, however, through a partnership with CNS Y-12, this position will support the grant development needs of Y-12’s Oak Ridge Enhanced Technology and Training Center (ORETTC).


Location

Position is able to be conducted via local remote work, however, it will be necessary to physically meet with the ORETTC occasionally.


Description of Duties

Write funding requests and grant applications; adapt and edit proposals, concept papers and letters of inquiry for submission to foundations, corporations, and government agencies

Be involved in day-to-day grant management, including, but not limited to, maintaining project management for individual grants; assisting with the development and management of a response archive, and setting-up calls with internal and external stakeholders.


Conduct research for potential funding sources; maintain funding opportunity databases; and provide timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements, and procedures


Monitor and interpret regulations to ensure regulatory compliance; inform and advise institutional representatives of compliance issues


Conduct internal and external research for statistics and other information to support grant proposals; gather information that will facilitate understanding of the concept of projects/programs for which funding is sought


Develop budgets for grant project related activities and expenditures


Prepare graphics for grant applications (matrices, calendars of activities, data table/charts, etc.)


Maintain contact with grant-making organizations during the review process for submitted applications


Manage the process of progress report submissions for awarded grants


Work closely with ORETTC in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals; acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the organization to enhance understanding of projects for which grants are sought and to recommend most appropriate sources of funding


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field required, with demonstrated experience in grant writing.


1-3 years professional writing experience required; 3-5 years preferred


Experience in developing and writing programmatic proposals to governmental and private funding sources, including development of program activities, supporting graphics, budgets and budget narrative, timelines, and job descriptions


Working knowledge of federal and state grant application and reporting guidelines and requirements as well as current practices, including electronic submission of grant proposals


Strong expository and persuasive writing skills, a high-level command of grammar and spelling, demonstrated ability to write and edit with consistent accuracy and compelling messages, demonstrated ability to match writing style with audience


Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data


Highly organized with ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects


Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines


Strong computer skills (excellent command of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Access)

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with faculty/staff in various departments/disciplines
