Directly responsible for supervising the graphic artists as they develop and deliver artwork for custom printed products and other creative development projects.
Day-to-Day Role:
- Monitor and assist with balancing production and project workload for Graphics Artists. Coordinate with department leads on current and shared resource opportunities. This includes gathering, evaluating, and making recommendations based on department metrics
- Collaborate with appropriate team members to ensure all art production meets required manufacturing specifications for Flexographic and Dry Offset printing
- Assist with documentation and maintenance of departmental reference documents, production templates, and SOP’s
- Align with Graphic Services Manager to assess, assign and oversee creative development and/or render request projects
- Work collaboratively with internal and cross functional teams through clear, timely and effective communication
- Special project work and expanded department responsibilities as appropriate
- Direct supervision to include but not limited to time and attendance, staffing levels, performance reviews, and personnel development and training
- Create a motivational environment to support staff, applying a team approach and maintaining open communication
- Support and boost corporate values and directives
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal Graphic Art Supervisor candidate must possess all of the following:
- Associates degree in Graphic Design or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Three (3) years of experience of pre-press and art file creation or support, offset and/or flexographic printing processes
- Three (3) years of experience coordinating and leading creative development projects with a team of artists
- Three (3) years of supervisory and/or group lead experience
- Four (4) years of experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Accurate work habits and excellent attention to detail
- Must have basic math skills including the understanding and ability to apply decimals and fractions
- Desire and ability to successfully lead others
- Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to communicate intricate job-related processes
- Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
- Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and communicate with project partners
- Demonstrated graphic design layout skills
- Up to 5% domestic travel
- Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
Preferred Skills and Qualifications for the Graphic Art Supervisor:
- Experience working on a Macintosh platform
- Experience working with Esko Automation Engine and/or WebCenter project management system
