Environmental Compliance Consultants has an opening for a Hazardous Waste Facility Manager to oversee, manage, and lead environmental RCRA/hazardous waste storage, transportation, and preparation operations on the Fort Greely Army installation, near Delta Junction, Alaska. Successful candidates will work independently and as part of a team to lead and oversee RCRA hazardous and non-hazardous waste management and disposal operations, ensure facilities and operations maintain environmental compliance at all times, conduct RCRA compliance assessments and provide RCRA compliance assistance. The candidate must be able to identify, analyze, and document RCRA compliance as a result of applying expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities May Included:
- Manage RCRA Hazardous, non-hazardous, universal wastes, and materials for Army installation including the installation's hazardous waste facility
- Provide knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste management and disposal to internal and external customers
- Supervise, mentor, and train a small staff of Material Handlers/Environmental Technicians (2-3 employees)
- Conduct RCRA compliance audits of facilities and operations providing exceptional quality control
- Inspect containers and collection areas for compliance
- Sample, characterize, profile, and coordinate pickup/delivery orders for waste
- Deliver and administer RCRA and related environmental training to staff and base personnel
- Participate in spill response, remediation, and clean-up activities
- Perform/oversee lab packing including the proper segregation of material/waste and off-specifications of commercial products for transportation
- Comply and enforce Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security Management program requirements as priority one while always acting in a safe manner
- Provide excellent customer service and relations for Prime and DOD clients.
- Manage contract requirements.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of federal, state, and DOD environmental laws and regulations (RCRA,DOT)
- Experience managing RCRA waste or in a closely related environmental field of study
- Experience with department of defense/government contracts a plus
- Must be able to follow specific, detailed procedures and be able to review work for technical accuracy and adequacy
- Capable of analyzing sampling data
- Possess or obtain a 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification
- Pass background checks for government facility and military installations
- Possess a valid Driver’s license
- Ability to pass occupational physicals as applicable to position
- Possess strong computer and data analytical skills
- Able to Accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities
- Supervisory/personnel management experience
- Pass pre-employment drug testing and abide by company drug-free policy including recreational and medicinal marijuana
