That is why we love what we do: enabling our customers to develop their technology safely using the Parallel Domain data generation platform. Our platform revolutionizes the way our customers generate sensor data for AI development. We're looking for people like you to join us in pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence and synthetic data.
About the Role
As Head of Finance, you will own and actively manage the full financial function on a global scale. This will include strategic finance, financial planning & analysis, accounts payable and receivable, tax, expense and payroll. Initially you will manage our external accountants and controller (Canada + USA), and build an internal team as the company scales. You will set our financial strategy in partnership with the board and executive team, elevate and mature our existing processes and systems, and establish new systems, tools, processes and functions as the need arises. Initially the role will report to the VP of Operations. This role will grow and evolve over time and will scale with the company.
We are open to candidates outside the SF Bay Area, who must be located in the pacific time zone. We have a strong preference for a candidate who will be located in the SF Bay Area, and can work hybrid between home and our local office, as well as make trips to our Vancouver hub on a quarterly basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead financial planning and forecasting process (headcount, sales, etc). Guide budget development and management. Understand and analyze levers driving the company's long-term financial health and success. Lead revenue reporting and mapping, as well as track and report against key financial KPIs.
- Strategic Finance: Lead and perform financial analyses for a variety of strategic decisions, including strategic investments, partnerships or potential M&A. Construct detailed ad-hoc analyses (scenario modeling, sensitivity analyses, and contingency planning) to guide the investment decision-making process. Provide recommendations to executive management based on both financial and strategic implications of investment decisions.
- Operational Reporting, Tools, & Process Management. Select and implement appropriate financial tools and systems. Align, measure, and report on company KPIs and financial metrics. Operationalize quarterly and annual reporting for accounting, tax & audit, and treasury/cash management.
- Financial and Cross-Functional Leadership. Partner with external firms (controller + sr. accountant in the USA; sr. accountant in Canada) to manage company financials. Determine timing to bring functions in-house, and hire and develop the financial team as the company scales. Serve as a key member of the extended leadership team, bringing financial expertise and data to planning and problem-solving.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience with increasing scope and complexity in Strategic Finance or Financial Planning & Analysis
- Acumen across the breadth of financial verticals (FP&A, StratFin, tax, AR/AP, expense and payroll)
- Experience working in tech, ideally for a scaling startup, including partnership in fundraising
- Experience scaling financial processes, tools, systems and financial models as a company scales
- Exceptional financial modeling skills with great attention to detail and ability to distill complex issues into structured, actionable frameworks
- Significant understanding of the key drivers of an Enterprise B2B SaaS business
- Ability to flex between high-level strategic thinking and deep-dive analytical problem solving + individual contributor work
