Job Site Services (JSS) is seeking a Health & Safety Director to join our expanding company. JSS has expanded operations, with openings in multiple locations. We are seeking candidates for our and Bay City and West Michigan location.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Corporate Safety Director will be responsible for overseeing safety and related risk management for Job Site Services, Inc.

The Corporate Safety Director will lead and drive the safety culture within Job Site Services, Inc. by providing strategy, leadership, and support for all offices and projects. This position will be the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for the company’s award-winning safety program.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Corporate Safety Director will lead our Safety Officers and Project Managers in the proper implementation of the safety program and the advancement of our safety culture. He/she will be responsible for implementing and maintaining proactive processes, tools, and training that will optimize safety performance and ensure regulatory compliance. A key ability will be to utilize “root cause analysis” to evaluate individual situations; then identify how to learn and then adapt procedures/policy, thereby eliminating further risk.

  • Solid understanding and ability to drive behavior-based safety in an environmental construction/remediation organization and ability to create programs that support a 24/7 safety culture at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with a variety of employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships throughout the organization
  • Research and implement new safety regulations as they relate to the enforcement of the safety program.
  • Provide required training to field personnel and project personnel to meet or exceed those requirements of OSHA or the client.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to effectively address complex process issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, potential clients, and other parties of interest
  • Ability to work with staff based in remote locations/job sites throughout the US
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout the US (25% travel)
  • Work closely with the CEO, COO, Operations Managers, and Project Managers to cultivate and grow the Safety Culture.
  • Plan and implement safety training programs
  • Create, manage, and review site-specific safety plans
  • Assess the effectiveness of safety program activities, policies, and procedures and implement changes to improve results and achieve objectives
  • Possess a strong understanding of DOT rules/ regulations

Essential Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences or related field preferred.
  • Safety Related Credentials – CSP, CRSP, CHST, CUSA, OSHA, MSHA or other preferred.

  • Excellent driving record
  • Able to pass a DOT Physical, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as well as random testing
  • Must pass motor vehicle record and background investigation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds infrequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Ability to climb infrequently

Salary/ Job Information

  • This is a salary position
  • Typical work schedule is between 45 and 50 hours per week.
  • Pay is dependent upon qualifications and experience
